GFT is seeking a Project Manager to join our Northeast Region Transportation Team, focused on building our team and expanding and strengthening our presence across New Jersey. This role will support major clients including NJ Department of Transportation (NJDOT), NJ Turnpike Authority (NJTA), and the Port Authority of NY & NJ (PANYNJ), and other transportation agencies.

What you'll be challenged to do:

As a Project Manager, you will work on and lead assignments for major clients including NJ Department of Transportation (NJDOT), NJ Turnpike Authority (NJTA), and the Port Authority of NY & NJ (PANYNJ), and other transportation agencies.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Planning, directing, and monitoring all aspects of small to large-scale, multi-discipline traffic and transportation projects involving complex technical challenges and diverse project teams.
  • Contributing to New Jersey traffic practice growth, including recruitment, mentorship, resource planning, and long-term growth strategy.
  • Reinforcing and expanding GFT's strategic market position with NJDOT, NJ Turnpike Authority, PANYNJ, and other regional agencies.
  • Participating in business development efforts including client relationship management, pursuit strategy, teaming decisions, and capture planning.
  • Serving as Project Manager, Task Manager, and/or Traffic Technical Advisor on major pursuits and active projects.
  • Overseeing preparation of traffic impact studies, traffic modeling and simulation analyses, Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) plans, traffic signal design, signing and pavement marking plans, and related transportation studies.
  • Ensuring quality control, schedule adherence, and financial performance across all assigned projects.
  • Managing multiple concurrent project commitments while maintaining high standards of technical excellence.
  • Preparing and overseeing development of proposals, letters of interest, technical approaches, and presentations.
  • Collaborating with roadway, bridge, planning, and construction teams to deliver integrated transportation solutions.

What you'll bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in New Jersey.
  • Substantial professional years of traffic and transportation engineering experience, including in a project management, group leadership, or mentoring capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and growing a traffic/transportation group, particularly within the New Jersey market.
  • Strong familiarity with NJDOT, NJTA, and PANYNJ standards, policies, and procedures required. Experience with additional regional agencies is a plus.
  • Proven success delivering preliminary and final design, traffic studies, signal system design, MPT plans, and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency with HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and other traffic analysis and simulation software.
  • Demonstrated history of driving business development success, securing new work, and expanding client relationships.
  • Experience leading proposal development, interview preparation, and strategic pursuits.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams.
  • Track record of successful project delivery, financial management, and junior staff mentorship.

Compensation:

The range for this position is salary range is $150,000 - $156,000; Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
