HDR Engineering, Inc. currently has an opening for a Traffic EIT to join our Dallas, TX office.

The primary duties for a Traffic EIT are to provide engineering, design, and production support. The Traffic EIT will support Project Engineers in development of traffic signal design, illumination design, traffic studies, traffic signal timing plans, simulation modeling. Will also work closely with Project Engineers to prepare PS&E plans including signing and striping, traffic signals, and illumination, and prepare reports/ analysis for various state and local agencies. Applicants should have prior experience in these areas and able to work in a team environment. This position requires self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team to work toward common goals in serving our clients. May make decisions on design and engineering procedures. Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • BS or MS in a Transportation/Traffic engineering discipline is preferred.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) registration or ability to obtain EIT certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microstation, Synchro, Microsoft Office is preferred
  • Knowledge of Highway Capacity Software, TransCAD, or VISSIM is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with preparation of plans, specifications and estimates to state and local standards is a plus.
  • Experience in successfully completing traffic engineering projects such as signal timing, signing, striping, and signal design, safety studies, corridor plans, operations analysis, multi-modal studies etc. is a plus.

Required Qualifications
  • Conduct traffic design using CAD platforms including MicroStation, Autocad and Guide Sign software
  • Conduct operational analysis using a variety of analysis and modeling tools specific to support job duties, including HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Aimsun
  • Conduct safety analysis using a variety of safety software tools including Highway Safety Software
  • Ability to multitask while working on many projects at once
