INTERNSHIP: Appalachian Pregnancy Care Center (APCC) Administrative Operations Intern

The Administrative Operations Intern will support the daily functions of the center by optimizing office workflows, managing digital information, and enhancing communication strategies. This role is ideal for students looking to apply business theory, IT skills, and communication strategies within a mission-driven nonprofit environment.


Organization Description: The Appalachian Pregnancy Care Center offers a comprehensive system of support and service for women experiencing unplanned pregnancies and their newborns. It provides necessary pre- and post-natal education resources and helps new mothers avoid the pitfalls that often accompany an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy. APCC connects clients with a broad-based network of support agencies in their community and helps mothers make positive choices involving their and their babies' health. APCC counsels the mothers about financial and educational options and helps them maintain stability, working with the entire family unit.


Internship Responsibilities and Career Competencies:

  • Data and Records Management: Maintain and audit client/donor databases; ensure digital filing systems are organized and secure. (T, CT)
  • Digital Communications: Draft, update, and manage media content to increase community awareness. (C, CSD)
  • Process Optimization: Propose tech-based solutions to optimize office workflows (e.g., intake forms, supply tracking). (T, CT, CSD)
  • Vendor and Donor Relations: Assist in coordinating logistics for fundraising events; communicate professionally with community partners and vendors. (P, C, L)
  • Resource Coordination: Assist with organization of office and client supplies. (CTR, CT)
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in staff meetings and collaborate on center-wide projects. (T, P, C)

Focus on confidentiality. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. Experience with Canva is a plus.


Work Schedule: Tu-F 10am-4pm, some events that are on weekends and/or outside of these hours. Hours will be pre-determined upon communication between intern and supervisor.


Physical Demands: Keyboarding, Reaching/Handling, Stooping/Kneeling, Lifting/Carrying, Walking moderate distances

Pay Rate: Beginning at $8.75/hour

Terms: Upon hire, the intern must register for the Summer II Internship course. To receive course credit, students will complete assignments concurrently with internship work. Students are required to work a total minimum of 80 hours and will eligible for the following credit hours: 80-119 hours of work + course completion = 2 credit hours; 120-159 hours of work + course completion = 3 credit hours; 160-199 hours of work + course completion = 4 credit hours; 200-239 hours of work + course completion = 5 credit hours; 240+ hours of work = 6 credit hours. Summer interns in this position cannot exceed 40 hours of work per week.
