BlackVe is seeking an experienced Information System Security Officer (ISSO) โ€“ Cybersecurity & Technology Operations to serve as the technical security leader for our Albuquerque operations.

This position is responsible for establishing, operating, and continuously improving BlackVe's cybersecurity, information assurance, and secure technology operations supporting both Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and classified environments.

Working closely with the Facility Security Officer (FSO), Engineering, Facilities, HR, Program Management, and external technology partners, the ISSO will help build the security and technology foundation supporting BlackVe's continued growth.

This is not a traditional ISSO role. As one of the foundational members of BlackVe's Enterprise Security organization, the successful candidate will help build cybersecurity programs, support secure technology operations, prepare for CMMC and classified system accreditation, and contribute across multiple business functions. We are looking for a builder, someone who enjoys solving problems, creating scalable processes, and wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced startup environment.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions Cybersecurity & Information Assurance
  • Serve as the site's Information System Security Officer (ISSO) for CUI and future classified information systems.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain cybersecurity and information assurance programs supporting company, customer, and government requirements.
  • Support Risk Management Framework (RMF), Assessment & Authorization (A&A), Authority to Operate (ATO), and continuous monitoring activities.
  • Develop and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs), Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms), security documentation, and operating procedures.
  • Implement and maintain security controls in accordance with NIST SP 800-171, RMF, applicable customer requirements, and company policies.
  • Coordinate vulnerability management, DISA STIG implementation, security patching, and secure configuration management.
  • Review audit logs, investigate security events, coordinate incident response activities, and support forensic investigations when required.
  • Manage user accounts, privileged access, media protection, encryption, and system security configurations.
  • Coordinate directly with customer ISSMs, government representatives, assessors, auditors, and cybersecurity partners.
Technology Operations & Startup Support

As a growing organization, BlackVe expects technical leaders to contribute beyond traditional role boundaries.

  • Serve as the onsite technical liaison with BlackVe's managed IT, cybersecurity, and telecommunications providers.
  • Support deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management of laptops, workstations, mobile devices, printers, audiovisual equipment, and other technology assets
  • Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding, including equipment deployment, account provisioning, and secure asset recovery.
  • Provide onsite technical assistance for issues requiring physical presence while coordinating more complex issues through managed service providers.
  • Support conference room technology, secure collaboration platforms, executive technology needs, and day-to-day technology operations.
  • Maintain hardware inventories, software licensing records, technology asset management, and equipment lifecycle documentation.
  • Coordinate technology vendors and assist with implementation of new infrastructure supporting company growth.
  • Help ensure technology solutions are secure, reliable, and aligned with business and customer requirements.
Compliance & Governance
  • Lead BlackVe's CMMC Level 2 readiness efforts in partnership with the company's managed service providers.
  • Maintain compliance with NIST SP 800-171, DFARS, customer cybersecurity requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate internal security assessments, audit preparation, evidence collection, corrective action tracking, and continuous compliance activities.
  • Support customer assessments, third-party audits, and government inspections.
  • Assist in developing enterprise cybersecurity policies, standards, security awareness materials, and standard operating procedures.
Classified Programs & Secure Infrastructure
  • Supporting accredited classified information systems.
  • Coordinating secure technology deployments within SCIF environments.
  • Maintaining classified cybersecurity documentation and security plans.
  • Supporting secure network implementation for one primary SCIF and multiple internal SCIFs.
  • Assisting with secure media accountability, configuration management, and classified information protection.
  • Partnering with the FSO during SCIF construction, accreditation, inspections, and secure facility expansion.
Enterprise Security Leadership
  • Build scalable cybersecurity and technology governance processes.
  • Support enterprise security initiatives and strategic planning.
  • Participate in customer security meetings, proposal efforts, and risk assessments.
  • Evaluate new technologies and identify cybersecurity risks.
  • Support business continuity planning, incident response preparedness, and enterprise resilience.
  • Contribute wherever needed to support BlackVe's mission, customers, and continued growth.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance (with eligibility for SAP access); must be able to maintain and upgrade as needed.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience supporting cybersecurity, information assurance, secure IT operations, or classified information systems.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • NIST SP 800-171
    • Microsoft GCC High
    • Vulnerability management
    • Secure configuration management
    • Security documentation and compliance programs
  • Experience working with managed service providers and third-party technology vendors.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently while collaborating effectively across multiple business functions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous ISSO experience supporting Department of Defense or Intelligence Community programs.
  • Experience preparing organizations for CMMC Level 2 assessments.
  • Experience supporting classified information systems and SCIF environments.
  • Familiarity with NISPOM and DCSA cybersecurity requirements.
  • Security+, CISSP, CISM, CAP, or equivalent cybersecurity certification.
  • Experience supporting rapidly growing government contractors or startup organizations.
Location and Travel Requirements
  • This position is based in Albuquerque, NM, with occasional travel to other company locations or partner facilities as needed.
