Job description

Overview

Business development involves establishing key and strategic relationships with

communities and municipalities where the company has determined it would like to

bring fiber and high speed internet service, and contributing to the identification of new

markets or areas for growth to be considered. Business Development plays a part in identifying events for participating or sponsoring, helping arrange for the company to participate, and when or if needed to be present and support sales team members as a brand ambassador. Business Development attains favorable community relations through various forms of

engagement and networking to establish and maintain strategic relationships that

include civic and community organizations and Chambers.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a primary liaison to public officials and key decision makers at all levels of the local and county government. Building community relationships and strengthening our brand. Creating a positive community partnership by maintaining relationships within the communities we serve.
  • Foster ongoing relationships with local government, community offices, and the public that in turn produces a stronger brand and leads for sales, and become a point of contact for a variety of key decision makers at the county and town levels.
  • Help identify events and get Surf set up to be involved, then support, help and attend some of them as needed or when strategically aligned with goals while Sales takes the lead on events.
  • Involvement with the evaluation of communities and markets being considered by Surf Internet and developing market specific opportunities, planning and executing ground breakings, ribbon cuttings and celebrations in new markets as they are “lit up” and the fiber network is turned on.
  • The efforts of business development will help to generate brand awareness and advance the core values and goals of Surf Internet to the public.
  • The business development team will also maintain interdepartmental communication with project development, construction operations and local government to support and ensure Surf Internet projects are set up for success.

  • Presentations to councils, public meetings, and community leaders

Qualifications

  • Telecommunications industry experience is helpful but not necessary.
  • 3-5 years experience in growth roles: marketing strategy, business development,
  • partnerships, etc.
  • Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced startup environment.
  • Ability to work well with and partner across multiple disciplines including Sales, Marketing and communications.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills are essential.
  • Outstanding communication skills; written and verbal, in-person, physical activations, online video.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related fields is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills with experience using platforms such as Hubspot (CRM), TEAMS, and Google Apps.
  • Traveling and working outside of normal business hours.
