Subsea Engineer - Houston, Texas At-will direct hire Very good basic salary + performance related bonus + excellent benefits Our customer is the world's leading oil spill preparedness and response services organisation. Their Subsea Well Intervention Services include five well capping stacks (this includes the OSPRAG capping stack for the UK Continental Shelf), subsea incident response toolkits and we are in the final stages of establishing the Containment Equipment in order to provide a truly comprehensive suite of response capabilities for subsea well incidents. We are now looking to employ an experienced Subsea Engineer to work at their Houston office. A number of their key suppliers and Members are based in Houston, so we are looking for someone who really enjoys working with a wide range of people from a variety of technical and professional disciplines and cultural backgrounds. You will be acting in a liaison role, working with the equipment suppliers to manage progress and interfacing with the customers to answer their technical and operational questions. You will be working closely with the central Subsea Well Intervention Service team based in the UK, and the various response bases. Some of your key responsibilities will include:- 1. Developing and maintaining subsea well intervention equipment technical data. 2. Developing standard operating procedures across all bases and teams. Identifying best-practice and coordinating standardisation across all teams. 3. In collaboration with the SWIS Technical Manager, ensure availability of equipment by co-ordination of operations and maintenance activities across all subsea well intervention sites and teams, including suppliers and customers. Supporting development, dissemination and standardisation of best-practice procedures. 4. Identifying opportunities to improve technical and operational performance. 5. Tracking changes in the technical and regulatory environment and advising the customers, suppliers and OSRL Subsea Well Intervention Services team of the implications. Developing technical and operational methods to deal with these changes 6. Identifying operational risks and developing strategies for dealing with these. 7. Conducting regular supplier audits and reviews. Working with Subsea Well Intervention Team to handle performance issues, identify and mitigate risks, escalate non-performance issues and source replacement suppliers where required. Reporting of supplier performance. 8. Participating in exercises, drills and workshops 9. Delivering training to customers as required 10. Act as a technical advisor during incidents and oil spills
Skill Set
To be successful in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:- - Considerable experience in the operation of subsea equipment such as wellhead systems, blowout prevention systems, production Xmas trees, well testing equipment and topsides. - Knowledge of offshore design, manufacture and operational standards. - Experience of working in an international, multi-cultural environment. - A Mechanical Engineering degree or sufficient professional experience. You will be working as part of a highly motivated international team and will have the opportunity to travel extensively. Applicants must already be eligible to live and work in the US.
