What We Are Looking For:
The Lean Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and continuously improving the company's quality systems to ensure our products consistently meet internal standards, customer expectations, and industry requirements. This role combines engineering expertise, Lean manufacturing leadership, and data-driven problem solving to improve product quality, increase process capability, and eliminate waste across the organization. This position serves as the leader of the company's quality management system and works cross-functionally with production, engineering, sourcing, and leadership teams to drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the company's quality management systems and processes
  • Manage a team of six direct report quality technicians, to include retention, development and potential backfilling
  • Develop, implement, and maintain inspection methods, testing procedures, and process controls to ensure consistent product quality
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry quality standards
  • Lead preparation for and execution of third-party quality audits and certifications
  • Maintain documentation, procedures, and quality records that support effective quality management and traceability
  • Lead Lean quality initiatives aimed at reducing defects, improving process capability, and increasing operational efficiency
  • Utilize Lean tools such as root cause analysis, statistical process control, value stream mapping, and standard work to improve manufacturing performance
  • Identify systemic quality issues and implement sustainable corrective and preventative actions
  • Lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts related to quality and manufacturing performance
  • Monitor key quality performance metrics and communicate results to leadership
  • Analyze trends in defects, process variation, and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement
  • Document inspection results, audit findings, corrective actions, and improvement initiatives
  • Establish reporting systems that provide clear visibility into product and process quality
  • Train employees in quality standards, inspection methods, and Lean problem-solving techniques

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing quality engineering or quality management
  • Experience implementing Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement systems
  • Experience leading quality initiatives in a production environment
  • Experience managing quality technicians or junior engineers as direct reports preferred
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and manufacturing quality processes
  • Experience conducting process capability studies and statistical analysis
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly prints, and technical specifications
  • Strong working knowledge of precision measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience working with manufacturing data, quality metrics, and reporting tools.
