RWE Americas' Asset Management department is accountable for the commercial success of a 13+ GW portfolio of renewable energy assets including wind, solar, and battery storage, located throughout North America. Through close collaboration with Operations & Maintenance, Engineering and various Financial stakeholders, the team drives tactical and strategic initiatives optimizing the performance of all assets.

The Senior Manager, Asset Management for the West region will be responsible for a portfolio of 6-10 utility scale solar and battery storage projects in California, Nevada and Arizona and to coordinate the effort of multiple asset analysts reporting directly to the position.

Role Responsibilities: 

  • Leads cross-functional strategy and execution for a complex or high value portfolio of renewable energy assets
  • Owns development and delivery of annual business plans and midterm plans, including budgeting, staffing, and performance targets
  • Acts as the primary business owner for assigned assets, accountable for maximizing profitability and minimizing risk
  • Collaborates across departments (e.g., HSE, Procurement, Operations) to drive strategic improvements and standardize best practices
  • Oversees contract compliance, vendor management, and risk mitigation strategies at a portfolio level
  • Drives initiatives to optimize asset operations, reduce OPEX, and extend asset life where feasible
  • Represents the company in key stakeholder conversations and external forums related to performance or regulatory compliance

Job Requirements and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences, Business, or Engineering required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 7 years' proven experience in related asset management activities
  • Proven experience leading people and a team
  • Demonstrated experience in building strategic relationships with internal and external project partners and stakeholders
  • Experience in negotiating and managing commercial contracts with an understanding of contract law and typical commercial contractual arrangements required for renewable generation assets
  • Broad portfolio-level expertise in commercial and operational management
  • Integrates financial, contractual, and technical insights to improve outcomes
  • Applies asset management best practices and tools effectively across multiple sites
  • Accountable for assigned projects commercial and operational performance
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
  • Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWEA offices and field locations
  • Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $137,000 - $185,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
