Job Summary
Provide speech-language pathology services for patients while maintaining positive levels of interaction with facilities and clients in accordance with the principles and practices of speech-language pathology and within

organizational guidelines. Provide quality patient care, including screening and evaluation of patients, development of initial and ongoing treatment plans of care, discharge planning, supervision of assistants and rehab techs, and case management responsibilities. Maintain professional conduct that represents commitment to quality and service in all interactions with clients and facilities. Adhere to all applicable state and federal regulations governing speech-language pathology practice.


Job Responsibilities

  • Optimize patient communication and swallowing function by providing, directing, and/or overseeing speech-language pathology services, including screening, evaluation, and treatment.

  • Comply with state and federal guidelines related to accurate and timely documentation and billing.

  • Provides regular updates and information to the Director of Rehabilitation regarding departmental activities and operations.

  • Establish and maintain effective, patient-centered interactions with patients, interdisciplinary team members, and facility staff.

  • Refer patients for treatment to Speech Language Pathology Assistants where applicable and provide clinical supervision.

  • Participate in utilization review, care conferences, case management, administrative meetings, and interdisciplinary team activities.

  • Develop and enhance speech-language pathology programs and services to support quality outcomes.

  • Ensure compliance with environmental safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and patient rights policies.

  • Enhance clinical expertise through continuing education and professional development.

  • Maintain valid state licensure and ASHA certification where applicable.

  • Understand and apply relevant payment models and treatment guidelines.

  • Maintain confidentiality of the facility and patient information.

  • Conduct oneself in an ethical, legal, and professional manner at all times.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • May supervise Speech Language Pathology Assistants, rehab techs, and/or students in accordance with state practice act guidelines and policies.

  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds using appropriate biomechanical techniques.

  • Ability to perform duties in a healthcare environment with moderate noise levels.

    Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.

  • Valid state Speech Language Pathologist license.

  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP), where applicable.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and basic internet navigation.
