Job Description:
At Pentair, you will work alongside passionate problem-solvers who are committed to the future of our planet. We put our mission into practice, helping the world sustainably move, improve, and enjoy water, life's most essential resource. From our residential water filtration to industrial water management to pool products and more, our 9,000 global employees serve customers in more than 150 countries, working to help create a better world for people and the planet through smart, sustainable water solutions.
We have an opportunity for a Workers Compensation Manager to join our Golden Valley MN team. You will lead, administer, and continuously improve Pentair's U.S. workers' compensation program. This role expands beyond claim-level processing and assumes responsibility for the full program lifecycle-including prevention support, compliance, analytics, reporting, vendor partnership management, and cost-containment strategies. You will work closely with HR Business Parters, EH&S, Operations, Finance, Legal and external partners to ensure prompt reporting, accurate documentation, consistent practices across locations, and proactive strategies to reduce both frequency and severity of claims. Your expertise will directly influence program costs, risk exposure, and team member outcomes.
You will:
  • Lead and administer the full lifecycle of the company's workers' compensation program, ensuring effective governance, consistency, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide workers' compensation policies, processes, and best practices aligned with regulatory requirements and organizational goals.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert program, advising senior leadership and partnering with HR, EH&S, and Operations to drive injury prevention, reduce claim severity and costs, and improve return-to-work outcomes.
  • Oversee and coordinate all claim activities in partnership with third-party administrators and vendors, ensuring timely reporting, proper documentation, regulatory compliance, and effective resolution.
  • Demonstrate strong vendor management by setting clear expectations, monitoring service levels, addressing performance issues, and ensuring partners deliver timely, cost-effective, and compliant support.
  • Manage complex, high-risk, or litigated claims with heightened oversight and proactive follow-up to mitigate exposure and ensure appropriate outcomes.
  • Lead return-to-work and transitional duty efforts by collaborating with HR and Operations to ensure appropriate placements and compliance with medical restrictions.
  • Analyze claims data, monitor key performance indicators, and produce regular reports to identify trends, inform decision-making, and reduce overall workers' compensation exposure.
  • Support financial management of the program, including budgeting, forecasting, audits, accruals, and insurance renewal processes in partnership with Finance and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations and ensure policies, practices, and communications remain compliant and up to date.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with insurance carriers, TPAs, medical providers, and legal counsel to ensure strong vendor performance and alignment with program objectives.
  • Drive program enhancements by identifying opportunities to improve workflows, systems, training, and cross-functional processes.
  • Support the development and delivery of training and educational materials to ensure stakeholders understand reporting requirements, processes, and injury management practices.

Key Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of workers' compensation claims experience across the U.S.
  • Completed bachelor's degree in business administration, Human Resource Management, Insurance or Risk Management.
  • Proven ability to manage claims end-to-end, including reserves and case valuation.
  • Experience conducting the interactive accommodation process and handling complex employee cases.
  • Highly organized with strong time management and follow-through.
  • Experience in a self-insured environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of federal and state disability laws, specifically ADA, FEHA, FMLA, and workers' compensation laws/regulations.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to evaluate, organize and manage multiple priorities, and effectively follow up in a fast-paced environment to balance employee needs and business operations.
