Job description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Looking for a rewarding way to support student success through sign language interpreting? A part-time contract opportunity is available for a skilled Language Facilitator to provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for a 9th-grade student in a behavioral classroom setting. This role is located near Katy, TX, serving a student who utilizes cochlear implants, hearing aids, and an ALD device, and who is transitioning back to campus from a Residential Day School Program.

This position is unique—a job-sharing arrangement with another language facilitator handling Monday through Thursday, while your coverage will be FRIDAYS ONLY, with the flexibility to substitute on other days as needed. The assignment runs through the academic year, from August 12, 2026, to May 27, 2027.

What You’ll Need:

  • Proficiency in ASL and previous experience as a sign language interpreter within a school setting
  • Ability to work effectively with students who use various amplification devices
  • Experience supporting students in behavioral classrooms is strongly preferred
  • Flexibility for occasional substitute days if the primary facilitator is absent
  • Proof of licensure and appropriate professional credentials

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate, supportive ASL interpretation during instructional times (excludes lunch and arrival/dismissal)
  • Foster an inclusive and accessible learning environment for the student
  • Communicate effectively with classroom teachers and student support teams
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school and district protocols

This part-time schedule offers a great opportunity to make a direct impact, with Fridays as your primary workday and the option to sub as needed. Embrace the chance to help a student thrive as he reintegrates into his classroom.

If you’re passionate about supporting student communication and growth, we’d love to see your application! Submit your resume and proof of licensure today to take the next step in your career.
