Job Position: Sign Language Interpreter

Location: Flint, MI 48507

Pay Rate: $40.00/hr

Birch Agency is seeking a passionate Sign Language Interpreter to support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in educational settings. The ideal candidate will provide accurate and effective interpreting services, facilitate communication between students and staff, collaborate with educational teams and families, and help create an inclusive learning environment that promotes academic achievement, social development, and student success.

Required Qualifications
  • Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification and/or state-required credentials

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpretation within educational settings

  • Ability to meet all state and district requirements for educational interpreters

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate, professional interpretation services between spoken English and ASL for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

  • Facilitate communication during classroom instruction, meetings, assessments, extracurricular activities, and school events

  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and families to support student access to instruction
