WORK SCHEDULE:
Five (5) days per week as per the School schedule and calendar.
SALARY RANGE:
According to the Terms of the Master Agreement for MEA
STARTING DATE:
As soon as possible
REPORTS TO:
Clare-Gladwin RESD Assistant Superintendent of Special Education
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
An educational interpreter working in a classroom shall possess the following:
A valid EIPA Performance score of 4.0 or higher, AND obtain EIPA Elementary Endorsement (Note: If the EIPA 4.0 score is obtained after August 31, 2016, the interpreter must also pass the EIPA written test); or Valid Deaf Interpreter credential and Certification recognized by the Division (CDI/DI); or Valid Division-recognized Certification.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
1. Modify spoken language for understanding by repeating, breaking down, and embellishing through the use of ASL.
2. Foster communication between/among partners and educators by modeling initiating engagement and eliciting responses through use of ASL.
3. Act as an advocate for the Hi student by teaching him/her to develop and/or implement communication and coping strategies.
