Job description

Senior Manager, Lifecycle & Email Marketing | The Points Guy

New York, New York

This role requires a hybrid schedule and will be based in our New York City office (Tuesday through Thursday) and work fully remotely on Mondays and Fridays each week.

We're looking for a Senior Manager of Lifecycle & Email Marketing to own the strategy and execution of the customer journeys that keep our audience engaged, grow subscriber value, and drive traffic and conversion to both current and future products. This is a lifecycle/retention role at its core, so we're just as interested in candidates coming from CRM, retention, product marketing, or loyalty/rewards program management as we are in dedicated email marketers. You'll partner closely with the Director to shape the team's roadmap, and act as a key decision-maker on segmentation, journey architecture, and testing strategy.

This is an ideal role for someone who thinks in customer journeys, not just campaigns — someone who gets energized by finding the right message, for the right segment, at the right moment in the lifecycle. Because we're speaking to a deeply engaged, points-and-miles-obsessed audience, this role also requires real subject‑matter fluency in travel loyalty — you should be someone who lives and breathes points, miles, and travel rewards, and who genuinely enjoys helping people get more out of theirs.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Director of Email on strategy, planning, and cross‑functional communication as needed
  • Design and manage always‑on lifecycle journeys (welcome, onboarding, re‑engagement, win‑back, post‑purchase, post‑product engagement, points/loyalty program engagement, vertical‑specific, etc.) tailored to distinct audience segments
  • Build and refine audience segmentation strategy to personalize messaging based on behavior, engagement level, lifecycle stage, and product affinity
  • Partner with content, design, product, and data/analytics teams to develop journeys that support both current product lines and upcoming launches
  • Bring genuine points, miles, and travel loyalty expertise to shape messaging that our rewards‑savvy audience trusts and finds genuinely useful
  • Own performance reporting for lifecycle programs — open, click, conversion, unsubscribe, and revenue metrics — and translate insights into testing roadmaps
  • Lead A/B and multivariate testing across subject lines, send times, content, and journey logic to continuously improve engagement and growth
  • Stay current on email deliverability best practices, platform capabilities, and lifecycle marketing trends to keep our program competitive
  • Help define and track north‑star metrics for audience growth, engagement, and retention
What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, lifecycle/CRM, product, data analytics, or loyalty/rewards program roles, with significant depth in lifecycle/CRM/email marketing
  • Proven experience building and managing multi‑touch, segmented email journeys at scale
  • Deep familiarity with major loyalty programs — airlines, hotels, and credit cards — and how loyalty mechanics (tiers, points earning/redemption, elite status) translate into effective lifecycle messaging
  • Strong passion for travel and the points/miles/loyalty world — you love maximizing redemptions, credit card perks, and benefits, and get energized helping our audience do the same
  • Strong analytical skills — comfortable owning reporting and drawing insights from data, with hands‑on skills in SQL, data visualization tools (e.g., Databricks, Looker, Tableau), and CDPs/data warehouses (e.g., Higtouch, Segment, mParticle, Snowflake) to pull and shape audience data beyond the ESP
  • Statistical fluency for testing — you think in terms of significance, sample size, and test duration, and can translate results into a clear narrative that drives decisions, not just a report
  • Rigorous about attribution — strong UTM discipline and a track record of tying marketing activity to downstream revenue
  • Experience with major ESPs/marketing automation platforms (e.g., Braze, Iterable, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot, or similar) — or comparable CRM/lifecycle systems experience and the ability to ramp quickly — with enough HTML/CSS fluency to troubleshoot rendering issues across email clients (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail) without waiting on a developer
  • A track record of using segmentation and personalization to grow engagement and revenue
  • A genuine passion for customer experience — you think about every email as part of the reader’s relationship with our brand, not just a message to send
  • Excellent collaboration skills — this role works cross‑functionally with content, product, design, and data teams daily
  • A builder’s mindset: comfortable helping shape team direction while also staying hands‑on with execution
  • Based in or able to work from New York, NY
Who You Are
  • You’re the person your friends and family text when they need points‑and‑miles advice — you track your own balances, chase the best redemption for an upcoming trip, and have opinions on transfer partners and credit card bonus categories
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment where priorities can shift quickly; able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
  • A self‑starter who takes ownership, follows through, and consistently delivers high‑quality work without requiring constant oversight
  • Curious and enthusiastic about learning new loyalty programs, destinations, and travel strategies
  • A sharp data mindset — you make decisions based on what the numbers say, not gut feel alone
  • Excited by new tech, especially AI and automation that drive smarter marketing
Why Join Us

This is your chance to help shape the future of The Points Guy — how we deliver more value to the millions of readers and subscribers who trust us to help them travel further and smarter. You’ll operate as a true strategic partner to the Director of Email, with real ownership over segmentation, journey design, and program growth — for an audience that shares your passion for getting the most out of every point, mile, and perk.
