Job description

Total Safety is looking for a NCCER Rigger to join their safety conscious team! The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely rigging, lifting, and moving materials using cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment, in accordance with NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect rigging equipment and materials to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Set up and dismantle rigging gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches.
  • Signal crane or hoist operators during lifting and moving operations.
  • Determine proper rigging techniques and load configurations.
  • Read and interpret load charts, blueprints, and lifting plans.
  • Collaborate with crane operators, supervisors, and other crew members to ensure safe operations.
  • Follow all OSHA and NCCER safety standards and guidelines.
  • Maintain detailed records of lifting activities and inspections.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to rigging and lifting equipment.

Requirements:
  • NCCER Rigger Certification (Level 1, 2, or 3 depending on role).
  • Proven experience as a rigger in construction, industrial, or marine settings.
  • Strong understanding of rigging principles, load dynamics, and safety regulations.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, work at heights, and perform demanding physical tasks.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and job sites.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • NCCER Signal Person certification.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
  • Experience operating cranes or hoisting equipment is a plus.

Working Environment:
Shop, indoor and outdoor industrial environments. May be frequently exposed to cold, hot, wet, humid, outside weather conditions and vibration. Works in customer environment. May be exposed to high pressure, chemicals, and traffic. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
