Job description

Job Summary:
This position is accountable for accurately, safely and efficiently performing routine congenital and pediatric echocardiographic procedures with competency including assisting in transesophageal, epicardial and intracardiac echocardiographic procedures in outpatient clinic environment. Assists the Cardiologist as required. Generates and prepares a draft echocardiogram report using the archiving and report writing software. Works under the direction of the clinic manager. Participates in the rotation of on-call duties and outreach clinic involvement. Performs EKGs, Holter and multi-event applications
Qualifications:
Education
  • College Degree - 2 year Accredited Echocardiography/Ultrasonography (required) Or
  • Program Accredited Echocardiography/Ultrasonography Technical/Vocational Training (required) Or
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. (required) And
  • Equivalent Experience If individual has neither accredited program nor 2 year degree, High School Diploma and equivalent experience sufficient to allow for successful completion of ARDMS certification in Echocardiography required. (required)
  • College Degree - 4 year Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography (preferred)

Licenses and Certifications
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • RDCS-PE - ARDMS Pediatric Echocardiography - ARDMS - American Registry of Medical Sonographers within 18 months of hire or transfer into position (required) Or
  • CCI - Cardiovascular Credentialing International - CCI - Cardiovascular Credentialing International Akers Specialty Clinic only within 18 months of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • RDCS-FE - ARDMS Fetal Echocardiography - ARDMS - American Registry of Medical Sonographers (preferred)
  • RDCS-AE - ARDMS Adult Echocardiography - ARDMS - American Registry of Medical Sonographers (preferred)

Work Experience
  • Minimum two (2) years Congenital & pediatric echocardiography (preferred)

Skills and Abilities
  • Other Demonstrated knowledge of cardiac embryology, congenital heart defects, cardiac hemodynamics and palliative/corrective congenital heart surgical procedures. Skill to instruct, train and educate health providers in the assessment of congenital heart disease.
  • Bilingual Skills Preferred
