Job description

The Sanitation Supervisor must possess the desire and ability to plan, organize, and direct quality assurance personnel and programs to assure that plant products conform to Darigold defined product quality standards, as well as Federal, State, and local standards of product identity, safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s). As a member of the Plant team the Sanitation Supervisor will be a true strategic partner in the Operations Division. The Sanitation Supervisor’s role is to serve as a resource for plant management in the areas of testing, GMP’s, sanitation, and quality program administration. The Sanitation Supervisor is also responsible for overall supervision of the plant sanitation program. This is a salaried, non-bargaining-unit position.

Schedule: Able to work flexible/rotating shifts to meet business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

· Monitors and reports plant sanitation efforts. Makes appropriate recommendations to management.

· Responsible for implementing and auditing in-plant quality programs including, but not limited to: GMPs, HACCP, weight control, master sanitation schedule, pest control, Appendix N, and sanitation. Makes recommendations for improvement.

· Assists in complying with regulatory requirements related to product safety and quality.

· Provides management and Corporate Quality Personnel with regular and complete reports on all matters pertaining to quality issues and standards.

· Maintains a professional working relationship with plant management, quality manager, customers and vendors.

· Works closely with vendors and customers on product quality reports and audits.

· Possesses a high degree of initiative and flexibility.

· Works closely with the Plant Manager in other areas including, but not limited to involvement in R & D projects, and other projects and assignments as needed.

· Carries out additional assignments made by the corporate Quality Director and Plant Manager.

· Monitor chemical usage/inventory to increase efficiencies.

· Monitor CIP systems and documentation to insure proper cleaning.

· Validate cleaning efficacy (time, temperature, flow, concentration) and evaluate CIP systems against design parameters.

· Initiate action plans focused on sanitation system improvements.

· Develop SSOP's and insure they are followed and documented

· Perform plant GMP and sanitation inspections with documented follow up

· Perform environmental sampling and swabbing. Track results for trending.

· Develop sanitation manual that outlines plant sanitation program.

· Communicate with other plants regarding sanitation best practices.

· Verification of chart monitoring

· Investigates root cause and corrective action for issues.

· Act as in-plant sanitation expert.

· Manage/monitor pest elimination program

· Perform sanitation training.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills.

· Ability to deal effectively with all plant employees.

· Good technical understanding of manufactured dairy products.

· Ability to troubleshoot quality and sanitation issues in a manufacturing environment.

· 1-2 years of operations experience.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Experienced in all aspects of plant sanitation

· Good leadership skills

· Excellent organizational abilities

· Proficient in the use of MS Word and Excel

Education, Experience and Certifications

· B.S. in Dairy, Food Science, or Science related field preferred.

· 3 to 5 years combined experience in dairy quality control, sanitation and/or production.

· Understanding of computer driven process controls for a dairy manufacturing facility.

· PCQI certified; this is a certification that should be obtained if not possessed

· PC literate.
