Job Summary:
The Area QA/QC Area Supervisor provides strategic leadership and technical oversight for quality management across multiple regional project sites and fabrication facilities. This role is responsible for driving standardized quality execution, managing a team of site-based inspectors, and ensuring that all regional activities align with the business's quality requirements and industry codes. A typical day involves auditing multi-site compliance, coaching direct reports, and collaborating with project management teams to mitigate systemic risks and optimize fabrication costs. The Area Supervisor acts as the primary liaison between field operations and QA/QC leadership to ensure consistent quality excellence across the territory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide multi-site leadership to the regional QA/QC team, setting clear performance expectations and
actively coaching site-level inspectors.
• Direct the execution of the Project Specific Quality Control Plan across multiple projects to ensure all
business Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are strictly followed.
• Support Project Leads, Project Managers, and QA/QC leadership with inspection planning, field
verification, and quality documentation.
• Strategize and implement "First-in Inspection" processes across the region to proactively reduce
fabrication errors and minimize cost impacts.
• Audit and review design documentation, vendor quality manuals, and company records for regional
compliance with ASME B31 and Section IX codes.
• Manage the performance, development, and asssit in resource allocation of Quality Control Inspectors
assigned to various regional sites.
• Escalate quality concerns, recurring deficiencies, or code/compliance issues to the appropriate Project
Lead, Project Manager, and/or QA/QC Regional Manager for direction.
• Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods to analyze regional quality data and recommend systemic
process improvements to senior management QA/QC Regional Manager.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for General Contractor Quality Assurance Managers regarding multiproject inspection planning and non-conformance resolution.
• Analyze and approve all regional purchased products/components, assist in making final determinations
on vendor acceptance based on quality performance.
• Develop and present comprehensive technical reports and program updates to regional management and
executive leadership.
• Lead regional root-cause analysis investigations for systemic quality failures and assist in developing new
technical approaches to resolve recurring problems.
• The role may include temporary coverage for personnel during PTO, increased workload, or project specific needs.
JOB DESCRIPTION
A typical day may involve supporting site inspections, verifying quality documentation, coordinating with field
teams, assisting with first-in inspections, and helping maintain compliance with project quality requirements,
company procedures, and applicable codes.
Position Requirements (Work Experience, Skills, Licenses, etc.):
• Expertise in ASME B31 piping codes, industrial/commercial construction, and non-destructive testing
(NDT).
• Advanced knowledge of ASME Section IX BP&V Code, including the creation and certification of welding
procedures and welder qualifications.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities across different geographic locations with high organizational
and time-management skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information
to diverse groups.
• Proficiency in calculating complex figures such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and
volume.
• Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to handle concrete variables in non-standardized
environments.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret complex technical instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule
form.
• Ability to support multiple projects, shifting priorities, and field assignments in a fast-paced construction
environment.
• Ability to work in active construction, shop, and field environments and travel locally between project sites
as needed.
Education and Experience:
Required:
○ Associate degree (A.A.) or technical school equivalent with 10 years of overall construction quality
experience.
○ Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role managing direct reports across multiple
projects.
○ At least 8 years of focused experience in Quality Control within industrial or commercial
construction and fabrication.
Desired:
○ Current certification as a Senior Certified Welding Inspector (SCWI) or Certified Welding Inspector
(CWI) per AWS QC-1.
○ ICC Mechanical - Commercial Certification.

• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and communicate effectively.
