100% Remote

About the Job

Duration: 3-month contract with possibility of extension or conversion

Location: Charleston, SC 29424

Work Hours: Position will be part-time (20 hours per week) and candidate will decide on a schedule with the manager, generally between the hours of 8:00-5:00, M-F.

Why the Position is Open

College of Charleston (CofC) is seeking an experienced project lead/manager to work directly with the PMO to ensure the successful completion of information technology projects. The current Full-Time Employee (FTE) in this role is retiring from the state pension system. Due to an ongoing Chief Information Officer (CIO) transition, we are currently under a hiring freeze and unable to permanently backfill the position. We anticipate posting the role for a new FTE in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we are leveraging a contract resource to maintain continuity.

Ideally, we hope the selected contractor will apply for the FTE role once it becomes available and ultimately join our team on a permanent basis.

Our client is seeking an experienced project lead/manager to work directly with the PMO to ensure the successful completion of information technology projects. Daily Duties / Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities

1. Develop, implement, and oversee standardized project management processes and methodologies tailored to the CofC community. Ensures all projects are executed in alignment with established frameworksdelivered on time, within budget, and to high-quality standardswhile consistently meeting stakeholder expectations.

2. Prepare necessary documentation to support project initiatives. More specifically, work with technical staff and business stakeholders to create deliverables and artifacts that are intended for audiences of varying levels of technical knowledge.

3. Monitor project performance and report progress through dashboards and executive summaries.

4. Identify and mitigate risks, resolve blockers, and ensure quality standards are met across all deliverables.

5. Support stakeholder engagement and facilitate cross-departmental communications.

6. Mentor and coach team members on Agile practices and project execution, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.

7. Other duties as assigned. This may include special project assignments within the Portfolio Management Office or IT division, task force participation, or other activities as assigned.

Technical Knowledge

Experience with documentation and artifacts related to any or all of the following technologies would be considered desirable for this position:

  • ServiceNow
  • Project Management software (e.g., MS Project)
Required Skills (Rank in Order of Importance)

1+ Year working with Business Analysts (Client) 2. 1+ Year experience working with Kanbans

Required Education/Certifications

1. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification 2. Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification 3. Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of related work experience or 9+ years of related work experience with no Bachelor's Degree
