Description
We are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to own our core accounting operations, including day-to-day accounting activities, project accounting, and the month-end close process. This individual will play a critical role in managing the full project accounting life cycle, while also building and enhancing accounting systems, driving process improvements, and increasing operational efficiency. The Accounting Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial visibility, strengthen internal controls, and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial reporting in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
This position is based in Raleigh, NC and follows a hybrid work schedule, with in-office collaboration Monday–Thursday and an optional work-from-home day on Friday.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accounting Operations: Participate in and manage daily accounting operations, including cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable and collections, expense reporting, time reporting, and payroll. Partner with external accounting firm and the Controller to support month and year-end close processes.
  • Project Accounting: Manage the project accounting life cycle, including tracking and analyzing project expenses, preparing and issuing client invoices, maintaining budget accuracy, and reporting financial performance to leadership to support decision-making and project oversight.
  • Financial Reporting and Budgeting: Prepare monthly financial statements for review, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing historical data and insights.
  • Internal Financial Analyses and Reporting: Assist with internally focused financial analyses and reporting activities, both recurring and ad-hoc.
  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous process improvements by identifying opportunities to reduce manual effort, streamline workflows, and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong relationships with operational leaders and cross-functional teams to support business objectives and improve financial visibility.
  • Internal Controls: Refine and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate, compliant financial reporting.
  • Accounting Procedures: Maintain and enhance accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency, consistency, and compliance.
  • Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain and enhance financial recordkeeping systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 7+ years of work experience in accounting, with 2+ years of Accounting Manager experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance requirements
  • Professional services organization experience and experience with international accounting strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft applications, including Excel
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated professionalism and integrity
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
  • A positive and solution-oriented attitude
  • Comfortable working with and implementing new systems and solutions
