Job description

Location: Cleveland, OH

Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking an experienced Area Manager Engineering to provide the services necessary to manage, direct, and support Capital Projects at our Cleveland Works facility. The Area Manager Engineering will lead the team of Project Engineers in the management of capital projects in Cleveland and assist with plant OPEX projects.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Implement and effectively utilize Cleveland-Cliffs safety standards and practices and conform to Cleveland-Cliffs environmental requirements

  • Provide strong technical leadership in the development, execution, and startup of capital projects in all areas of the Cleveland Works, including the primary and finishing areas

  • Assist the plant project engineering team in development of the yearly Capital Plans, as well as the monthly forecasting of projects

  • Manage the annual capital plan

  • Manage and prioritize resources to ensure capital projects are completed safely and efficiently

  • Routine reporting, both written and verbal

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree with a background in engineering design, procurement, construction and/or maintenance, or equivalent experience

  • At least ten (10) years of first-hand experience in project management of major capital projects in heavy industry with a proven track record of successful project schedule and budget execution

  • Extensive experience with heavy equipment, operations and maintenance in an industrial situation

  • Extensive experience with major project scheduling and project cost control

  • Strong understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes and standards, their impact on project related activities and the importance of compliance with generally accepted best practices and company engineering standards

  • Exceptional technical written communication skills

  • Ability to perform the engineering management duties well under pressure

  • Ability and willingness to travel to all company facilities to both provide and receive technical support as needed or requested

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 plus years of experience with managing project engineers

  • Extensive experience with all steel-related operations and maintenance, preferably in a managerial role.

  • Extensive experience with major project scheduling and project cost control

  • PMP or equivalent project management certification or a willingness to obtain this certification within 12 months of onboarding

The salary range for this role is $155,000 to $200,000. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based onnumerousfactors including, but not limited to, relevanteducation, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location and business or organizational needs.
