Ideal candidates will be able to report to our Pulse Point location in Norfolk, VA. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office.

The Manager I Engineering is responsible for managing the development, testing, delivery and support of technology systems within assigned client group, business unit or corporate department and utilizing various customer technology platforms.

  • Planning, directing, and controlling resources and initiatives to accomplish the objectives and requirements defined by senior technology and product management.

  • Identifies project scope and delivery dates.

  • Manages a single application, portfolio or architecture of responsibility and complexity).

  • Assists in budget development and deployment.

  • Manages processes and receives assignments in the form of objectives and framework on how to meet goals.

  • Identifies and resolves hurdles for assigned area/group.

  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with key business partners.

  • Manages processes and receives assignments in the form of objectives and requirements from technology and product management in order to meet business application delivery goals.

  • Identifies and resolves hurdles for assigned area/group and delivers according to promised dates.

  • Performs the work of engineers during high volume periods.

  • Collaborates with customers in order to understand new products or enhancements or features being requested.

  • Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 5 years of experience demonstrating technical expertise in one or more specific technologies; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • Good understanding of business operations and expertise in relevant tools and technical skills highly preferred.

  • 3 years of management or lead experience highly preferred.

  • Claims processing knowledge highly preferred.

  • Experience with EDINET and Facets highly preferred

  • Data management experience highly preferred.

  • Experience managing Developers with Agile methodologies highly preferred.

  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to build strong partnerships and collaborate effectively with business stakeholders preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present clearly and confidently to senior leadership teams preferred.

For candidates working in person or virtually in the below location(s), the salary* range for this specific position is $114,480 - $171,720.
