As a Site Civil Project Manager, you will join our Land Use team in either our Sandwich or South Harwich, MA office, where you'll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. Nearly 120 professional engineers strong and recent recipients of multiple ACEC Engineering Excellence and ASCE Project Awards, our senior technical and project management leaders have earned an outstanding reputation with private, state, and local government clients. We assist clients from the initial conceptual stages of a project through schematic design, design development, permitting, construction documents, bidding, and construction oversight. Well versed in local, state, and federal regulations and permitting requirements, as well as ever evolving climate change impacts and concerns, we strive to incorporate sustainability and resiliency into our site plans and designs.
Responsibilities, Requirements, and Total Rewards
What You'll Be Doing
As a valuable part of our Land Use team, a Site Civil Project Manager will lead the design, coordination, and execution of civil engineering projects across commercial, industrial, and residential sectors. You will oversee project teams, manage client relationships, and ensure the successful delivery of site/civil projects while maintaining a strong focus on quality, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing and executing engineering design tasks for civil/site development projects, from conceptual design through construction documentation
  • Developing comprehensive project plans, allocate resources, and establish project schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery
  • Leading the design and preparation of site/civil construction documents, including site layouts, grading plans, stormwater management systems, and erosion control plans
  • Developing technical specifications, cost opinions, and project reports
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders. Provide technical guidance, resolve design conflicts, and address project requirements throughout all project phases
  • Managing the preparation and submission of environmental permitting documents, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Oversee-ing applications for land use permits, stormwater management plans, and environmental impact assessments
  • Managing and mentoring project staff and junior engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth
  • Applying advanced technical skills in site/civil design, utilizing AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD (or equivalent), and other engineering software
  • Conducting quality control reviews to ensure accuracy and consistency across project deliverables
  • Integrating sustainable design principles, including LEED and ENV SP guidelines, into project approaches where applicable.
  • Analyzing project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and make informed project decisions related to cost implications, technical feasibility, and project schedules

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Urban Planning (Master's degree preferred)
  • 10-13 years of experience in civil/site design, land use planning, or project management
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license or AICP certification
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D (2014 or later), and HydroCAD (or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal environmental permitting processes and land use regulations
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary project teams, with a focus on site/civil and environmental projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • High level of creativity, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Requirements
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Planning, or a related field
  • LEED or ENV SP certification or experience in sustainable design practices
  • Experience in stormwater management, hydrologic modeling, and erosion control design
  • Advanced knowledge of construction cost estimating and project budgeting
  • Strong background in project bidding, proposal preparation, and client presentations
  • Experience in preparing technical proposals and project bids for public and private sector projects
  • Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of continuous learning
