Job description

Job Title: Project Manager / Engineer Location: Denver, Colorado Type: Contract Compensation: $64.00 - $66.00 Work Model: Hybrid – onsite and remote

Responsibilities

  • Support Xcel’s energy supply projects group by managing emergent capital projects at power plants across the region.
  • Oversee all emergent capital projects, supporting larger base and major capital projects.
  • Develop project scopes, technical specifications, and manage project documentation including bids, quotes, and material deliveries.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, reliability engineering, contractors, vendors, and external consultants.
  • Attend daily POD meetings to plan critical daily activities.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, with responsibilities including planning, execution, and administrative oversight.
  • Lead teams of engineers, contractors, and vendors, ensuring project goals are met on time and within budget.
  • Support reliability engineering efforts in developing project justifications and managing capital requests.
  • Ensure project documentation and technical specifications are accurate and updated.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil, or related field).
  • 2+ years of project management experience, especially in plant or manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects efficiently without sacrificing quality.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Experience managing contractors and vendor relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint) and Excel; experience with SAP preferred.
  • Knowledge of project management processes, budgets, and scope development.
  • Ability to work on-site 3 days per week, with flexibility to work up to 5 days occasionally.
  • Prefer candidates with FE exam passed or interested in certification; PMP or PE licenses are a plus.
