Clinical Manager Position Summary

The Clinical Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of a nursing unit for patients with illnesses such as sepsis, COPD, renal failure, pneumonia, and congestive heart failure. The Clinical Nurse Manager is also responsible for the supervision of personnel assigned to the unit. The Clinical Nurse Manager is accountable for clinical nursing practice and patient care delivery, including patient satisfaction for a broad range of patients as it relates to their age. The number of patients responsible ranges from 24-65 in acute care. The Clinical Nurse Manager is also responsible for management of human, fiscal, and other resources, development of personnel, and compliance with regulatory and professional standards.

Clinical Manager Position Requirements

  • Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse. Must hold a license in the state of permanent residency. 
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • National Certification required (specialty certification within one year or managerial certification in accordance with AONE/AACN)
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required or in pursuit. Masters level preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience, with 1-2 years of leadership experience preferred.

Clinical Manager Work Schedule

  • Exempt position.
  • Variable shifts depending on the needs of the department.
  • Works at least two after hours shifts – minimum 4 hours each per month.
  • Works in a clinical capacity at least 8 hours per month.
