Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Management of retail store developing sales to meet goals, exceeding prior year, keeping expenses in line to maintain appropriate expense to revenue ratios.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (NOTE: Qualified persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Reasonable accommodation will be made.)

  1. Produce store sales at or greater than the defined sales budget on a consistent basis.
  2. Ensure that adequate goods are put out for sale each day and throughout the entire sales day. Goals for each store are established and must be maintained.
  3. Ensure donations are received and recorded according to procedure, processed and put out for sale in a timely manner.
  4. Follow Goodwills Retail Program as outlined in training documents.
  5. Schedule employees, ensuring adequate staff to meet goals.
  6. Responsible for store receipts and following procedures concerning banking and cash handling procedures.
  7. Strive to create an exciting shopping environment each and every day.
  8. Build up the skills and knowledge of the management team, as well as, all other employees within the store.
  9. Coach, encourage and cheerlead the store team to create a more effective work team with resulting high sales.
  10. Must be able to be reached in a timely manner for emergency issues.
  11. Responsible for developing a positive image in the community for Goodwill and developing good relationships with store customers, donors, and other guests.
  12. Timely arrival at the workplace and consistent attendance.
  13. Perform work activities in conformance to Goodwill Values Statement which includes the values of Respect, Integrity, Compassion, Stewardship, Learning, Teamwork and Entrepreneurial Spirit.
  14. Immediately report any wrongdoing, unethical or improper conduct, fraud, fiscal mismanagement or misappropriation of funds, etc. (Refer to the Corporate Compliance Program Policy and Procedure for instructions on how to report.)
  15. Encourage and do not hinder in any way an employee making a report pertaining to
  16. Goodwills Corporate Compliance Program Policy and Procedure or making a report of work injury.
  17. Ensure no employee is retaliated against in any way as a result of making a report related to Goodwills Corporate Compliance Program Policy and Procedure or making a report of work injury.

STAFF PERSONS SUPERVISED: Assistant Store Manager, Store Supervisors, Customer Service/Production Associates, Donation Attendants

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. At least two (2) years retail management experience preferred and two (2) years experience working with the public.
  2. Valid Nebraska drivers license and meet insurance requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Ability to communicate in spoken conversation, adequate volume speech, and have normal hearing for conversation and telephone use.
  2. Ability to be independently mobile on all surfaces and situations, to move safely about the work area.
  3. Visual acuity, depth perception and field of vision within normal range.
  4. Have the physical stamina to work at least 8 hours per day and be able to travel to supervisory meetings.
  5. Maximum lifting of 50#, frequently lifting up to 25#.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Ability to energetically/enthusiastically plan and direct the work of others while dealing with frequent changes and interruptions.
