Job description


HPC-Industrial, powered by Clean Harbors, is looking for an LDAR Technician II to join their safety conscious team at a customer site! The LDAR Technician identifies, documents, and tags fugitive emissions (gas leaks) from industrial components like valves and pumps, ensuring compliance with EPA regulations. They use specialized equipment-such as Toxic Vapor Analyzers (TVAs/Method 21) or Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) cameras-to monitor, report, and facilitate repairs in refineries, chemical plants, and oil/gas sites. Ensure compliance with all Company policies/procedures and maintains/improves good customer relations by providing quality, timely industrial cleaning services.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring that Health & Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies always, & processes & acting in a safe manner

  • Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting, pulling & pushing heavy objects.

  • Field Inspections: Perform routine, scheduled inspections of components (valves, connectors, pumps, tanks) to detect leaks of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

  • Monitoring Equipment Operation: Operate, calibrate, and maintain analyzers (e.g., Flame Ionization Detectors - FID).

  • Data Management & Reporting: Record inspection data, tag leaking components, and manage inventory within databases like LeakDAS, GuideWare, SkyBridge

  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to environmental regulations (e.g., 40 CFR Subpart 60) and strict site safety protocols.

  • Collaboration: Coordinate with maintenance teams to report leaks and verify repairs.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid driver's license

  • Confined space entry & 10 Hour OSHA Training (preferred).

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and able to work independently. The role is physically active and often involves traveling to remote sites or working within complex, loud industrial environments. It is described as a detail-oriented, sometimes repetitive, but critical role for environmental protection.

  • Must be able to wear protective clothing or equipment. This includes, but is not limited to Nomex coveralls, a back belt, slicker suits, rubber boots, a fresh air breathing mask & escape pack & a hard hat.

  • Must be able to work under extreme climate conditions (excessive high heat index of 95+ degrees Fahrenheit, 98% humidity & subzero weather conditions) relative to geographic location.

  • Must be able to withstand exposure to dust, chemical & environmental, fumes (chemical & fluids), exhaust & highly pressurized fluids.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to walk long distances, stand for extended periods, climb ladders/scaffolding (sometimes up to 300 ft), and lift up to 50 lbs.
