Job description

As a dedicated employee performance and success manager (EPSM) on SCAD Savannah's HR team, you'll provide meaningful resources to assigned departments and act as a strategic partner for their growth. You'll encourage SCAD employees to make the most of the university's open-door policy, discussing issues with employees and managers, listening to employee concerns. and making resolution recommendations. In doing so, you'll promote positive and respectful communication between managers and employees.
As an employee performance and success manager, you'll:
โ€ข Advise managers on conflict avoidance and resolution and assess the effectiveness of interventions; administer HR policies and procedures and respond to inquiries
โ€ข Investigate HR policy-related employee matters and resolve issues according to compliance and Title IX office policies; provide action steps and recommend outcomes; inform managers of issues requiring immediate attention
โ€ข Oversee the position management process for new and replacement positions, promotions, transfers, reorganizations, and all other personnel changes to ensure job descriptions are correct and approval is received
โ€ข Consult with and obtain approval from the manager for in-line promotions and salary adjustments to then administer requests
โ€ข Prepare employee separation documents; conduct exit interviews to determine reasons for separation; implement work environment changes based on feedback provided during exit interviews
โ€ข Assist managers handling employee leaves of absence, ensuring compliance with policies, FMLA, and ADA guidelines in consultation with SCAD benefits
Acting as an internal advocate for your assigned team, you will:
โ€ข Partner with SCAD benefits on accommodation requests; make referrals to SCAD benefits and the employee assistance program (EAP); notify employees when medical documentation is required for accommodation
โ€ข Ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws and work with legal counsel to resolve employment matters
โ€ข Assist with annual increases, gathering necessary information for executive approval and communicate final raises to managers; facilitate succession planning activities and maintain updated organizational charts
โ€ข Lead new hire orientation for staff and faculty; present information on SCAD policies and procedures, leadership, and safety; create, implement, and lead learning and development programs for employees
Additionally, you will:
โ€ข Assist with salary administration via SCAD's compensation department to ensure compliance and equity; request compensation analysis and studies
โ€ข Assist managers in creating and updating job descriptions in coordination with the compensation department
โ€ข Assist managers with the performance management process, ensuring completion of evaluations and delivery of effective coaching and feedback
โ€ข Review all performance evaluations, ensuring information is accurate and complies with state and federal regulations
โ€ข Review rating distribution for assigned departments, providing feedback to managers and area vice presidents
โ€ข Participate in special projects and other departmental assignments
โ€ข Maintain professional relationships with university managers and colleagues in HR to work effectively with people who have diverse perspectives
โ€ข Maintain a thorough understanding of the goals and mission of the university as a principal guide in decision-making

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
