Job description

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves, and build a better world-together. At Ford, we're all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?

Do you believe modern order management technology is essential to delivering exceptional customer and dealer experiences? We do! As Ford continues to transform its global order management capabilities, we are building scalable, integrated, and cloud-enabled solutions that connect SAP S/4HANA, dealer-facing channels, legacy order systems, logistics partners, and enterprise platforms. These solutions help ensure the right parts and products reach the right customers at the right time.

We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Developer to support the design, development, integration, and operation of SAP S/4HANA order management capabilities. In this role, you will build modern SAP applications and extensions using ABAP Cloud, RAP, SAP Business Technology Platform, and CAP. You will also design and operate enterprise integrations using SAP Integration Suite, including Cloud Integration, API Management, Event Mesh, and Open Connectors.

This role requires strong hands-on experience in SAP S/4HANA development, clean-core extensibility, cloud-native engineering, API design, and enterprise integration. Working closely with product owners, business analysts, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams, you will translate order management business needs into secure, scalable, and reliable technical solutions. You will own quality end to end-from design and development through automated testing, CI/CD delivery, monitoring, performance tuning, and production support.

We recognize that no one person will embody every single quality or skill listed below. If you are passionate about SAP engineering, cloud integration, enterprise order management, and building high-quality solutions that enable Ford's transformation, we encourage you to apply.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Business Information Systems, or a related technical discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Graduate degree or equivalent technical education preferred.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of hands-on SAP development experience, including at least 3 years working with SAP S/4HANA.
  • Demonstrated experience building and supporting enterprise SAP applications, integrations, or order management solutions.
  • Experience working in Agile or SAFe product-team environments.
  • Experience collaborating with product owners, business analysts, architects, technical teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, solve complex problems, manage changing priorities, and contribute effectively to a cross-functional engineering team.

Required Technical Experience:

  • Proven experience building productive RAP applications, including behavior definitions and implementations, CDS view entities, projection views, metadata extensions, draft-enabled scenarios, and business events.
  • Strong experience with ABAP Cloud and ABAP for Cloud Development, including released APIs, clean-core principles, restricted ABAP language versions, and extensibility trade-offs.
  • Advanced Core Data Services experience, including annotations, associations, Data Control Language access controls, code pushdown, performance-aware modeling, and AMDP where appropriate.
  • Demonstrable experience developing CAP applications using CDS modeling, service definitions, custom handlers, authentication and authorization, and multitenancy awareness.
  • Experience with SAP BTP services and tooling, including Cloud Foundry and/or Kyma runtime, SAP HANA Cloud, Business Application Studio, MTA deployment, and connectivity services.
  • Experience designing and operating SAP Integration Suite Cloud Integration iFlows, scripts, mappings, adapters, error handling, and reprocessing patterns.
  • Experience with API Management, API security, OAuth 2.0, mutual TLS, SAML, JWT, API proxies, policies, and rate-limiting practices.
  • Experience with event-driven integration using SAP Event Mesh, Advanced Event Mesh, or comparable messaging technologies.
  • Experience with Git-based development, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code reviews, and modern software-engineering practices.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise security, authorization, data protection, and compliance requirements.

Preferred Experience:

  • Functional knowledge of SAP Sales and Distribution and Materials Management order-to-cash processes, including sales order processing, pricing, availability checks, delivery, billing, and returns.
  • Experience supporting automotive aftersales, spare-parts distribution, dealer networks, parts catalogs, or Dealer Management System integrations.
  • Familiarity with North American order management requirements, including multi-distribution-center allocation, cross-border United States, Canada, and Mexico flows, tax, and trade compliance.
  • SAP certifications, such as Development Associate-ABAP Cloud, Backend Developer-ABAP Cloud, Integration Developer-SAP Integration Suite, or SAP BTP Development certifications.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure; GCP experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, cloud-native development, observability tooling, Dynatrace, Grafana, or SAP Cloud ALM.
  • Experience with SAP Fiori, SAPUI5, and Fiori Elements.
  • Additional language skills, including German or Spanish.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home?
