Job description

Summary:

Canaccord Genuity (CG) is a leading independent full-service financial services firm, with operations in two principal segments of the securities industry: wealth management and capital markets. CG is driven by an unwavering commitment to building lasting client relationships - we achieve this by generating value for our individual, institutional, and corporate clients through comprehensive investment solutions, brokerage, and investment banking services. We are the leading independent wealth management firm in Canada, and the leading mid-market provider of investment banking advisory, equity research, sales and trading services for corporations and institutions.

We pride ourselves on understanding our clients' needs and finding innovative, tailored solutions. Our entrepreneurial and friendly team will challenge you to learn and grow every day. We value great work and collaboration and strive to eliminate bureaucratic thinking. We're looking for talented people who thrive in a fast-paced environment and want to have an impact with innovative ideas and best practices.

Our Canadian operation, Canaccord Genuity Corp., is seeking a proven leader as Branch Manager of its Winnipeg office. This individual will oversee all facets of the branch, driving profitability, efficiency, and performance across the region. The Branch Manager will support the branch's Investment Advisors and staff in a hands-on leadership mandate, with ownership of revenue growth, expense discipline, asset gathering, compliance standards, and the client experience.

The successful candidate will quickly establish trust and credibility with the branch team, national wealth management leadership, and compliance partners while delivering against branch targets and maintaining a clean compliance and audit record. The role suits a proven wealth management leader who combines commercial drive with sound judgment and a genuine commitment to advisor and client success.

Responsibilities:

  • Regional Growth & Production: recruit and select competitive Investment Advisor candidates; promote new products and issues across the branch; set realistic branch targets; and liaise with IAs on an ongoing basis to ensure they are meeting their targets.
  • Expense Control: adhere to national targets for allowable growth of operating expenses; perform audits as needed; follow up on errors; and prepare monthly analysis and reporting on branch performance.
  • Compliance: adhere to all corporate and regulatory compliance requirements necessary to meet industry standards; safeguard the assets of shareholders; monitor and control branch performance and take responsibility for the quality of business conducted within the branch; and keep up to date with industry trends and regulatory developments.
  • Conduct & Client Experience: ensure the ethical and professional behavior of all branch employees and resolve any client complaints in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Leadership & Culture: foster a collaborative, entrepreneurial branch culture consistent with CG's values; coach and develop advisors and support staff; and represent the firm in the Winnipeg business community.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Branch Manager within a wealth management or full-service brokerage environment; or as an accomplished Investment Advisor seeking to advance into leadership, continue managing a book of business, and elevate their profile within the region.
  • Extensive industry knowledge, including knowledge of individual securities, how capital markets work, economic cycles and the performance of securities within these cycles, as well as taxation issues affecting private clients.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements governing the Canadian wealth management industry, including CIRO rules, supervisory obligations, and know-your-client and suitability standards.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and motivate advisors and engage clients with credibility.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including solid financial modeling capability, applied to branch performance analysis and business planning.
  • The ability to make quick, sound, and ethical decisions and to work effectively under pressure and strict deadlines.
  • Resourceful and diligent, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently while managing time and multiple competing priorities.
  • Industry licensing or designations relevant to branch supervision (e.g., completion of applicable CIRO supervisory course requirements, CIM, and/or CFA).
  • Business undergraduate degree is preferred; a master's degree in business, finance, or a related field is an asset.
