Director of Training — Alloy Personal Training (Aurora, IL)Location: 3577 E New York St, Aurora, IL Reports to: Owner Type: Full-time
About Us
Alloy Personal Training is a semi-private personal training studio focused on results-driven coaching in a small-group setting. We're looking for a Director of Training to lead our team, drive sales, and run day-to-day studio operations.
The Role
The Director of Training is part sales leader, part coach, part operator. You'll spend roughly a third of your time training clients and the rest running the business — selling memberships, leading staff, and keeping the studio operating smoothly. This is not a coaching-only role: your ability to sell is the single biggest factor in whether you succeed here.
What We're Prioritizing: Sales First, Management Second, Coaching Third
We're hiring in this order: sales ability, business/team management, coaching skill. The right candidate has closed sales in a fitness, gym, or personal training environment — running consultations, handling objections, converting prospects to paying clients. Our Head Coach, who reports to this role, owns technical coaching quality — so we're not hiring a master coach here. If you don't have a track record of selling fitness memberships or training packages, this isn't the right role for you.
Key Responsibilities
Sales (primary focus)
  • Run all prospect consultations ("Starting Point" sessions) using our established sales process, including follow-up
  • Manage the full sales pipeline: phone leads, booking, show rate, close rate, and attrition
  • Convert trial clients to members following our defined sales process
  • Track and report on sales metrics weekly
Training & Retention
  • Coach training sessions (target: ~10 hours/week)
  • Run client accountability sessions and retention touchpoints (InBody check-ins, milestone tracking, visit reports)
  • Reach out personally to members with declining attendance
  • Review weekly workout programming with training staff
Team Leadership
  • Recruit, hire, and train new staff
  • Lead weekly staff meetings and conduct quarterly performance reviews
Marketing & Community
  • Oversee social media presence and local marketing campaigns
  • Represent the studio at community events, B2B partnerships, and referral programs
Operations
  • Run day-to-day studio operations: opening/closing, cleanliness, maintenance
  • Maintain accurate client records and billing
  • Uphold Alloy's brand standards and wear studio uniform during training shifts
Qualifications
  • Required: Proven sales experience in fitness, gyms, or personal training
  • Management or supervisory experience
  • Strong communication skills and an outgoing, personable style
  • Comfortable with performance metrics and holding a team accountable to them
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Personal training certification a plus, but not required if sales experience is strong
What We're Looking For
  • A closer — someone energized by hitting sales numbers, not just coaching clients
  • A leader who can run a team, hold people accountable, and keep a studio operating on schedule
  • Someone genuinely passionate about fitness and helping clients succeed, with the people skills to build lasting client relationships
  • A "can-do," problem-solving attitude and consistency in following systems and processes
What We Offer
  • Competitive base + commission/bonus structure tied to sales performance
  • Spot cash bonuses for hitting initial membership milestones (50, 75, 100, and 130 members — first time only)
  • PTO, Medical, Dental, and Vision
