Job description

What We Offer
We believe in taking care of our leaders. You will enjoy a competitive compensation package alongside comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance options. We offer generous paid time off (PTO) and company-recognized paid holidays to support your work-life balance. To help secure your financial future, we offer a robust 401(k) retirement plan with an immediate company match, plus opportunities for continuous professional development and career growth in an industry-leading smart factory environment.
About the Role
Driven to build the future of smart manufacturing? We are hiring a Software Engineering Manager to drive our software development and integration initiatives in factory automation. In this role, you will lead a high-performing engineering team and own the deployment of cutting-edge solutions across Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), machine connectivity, and MES/ERP integrations. You will play a pivotal role in scaling our Industry 4.0 footprint within a fast-paced connector manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities The Software Engineering Manager leads a team of developers, automation engineers, and integration specialists, defining and executing the software strategy for factory automation with a focus on AMR deployment, control systems, and automated material handling. The manager oversees the full lifecycle-design, coding, testing, and implementation-of software applications integrating with MES, ERP (such as Priority ERP, SAP, or Oracle), and quality systems. Responsibilities include managing the development of control interfaces for PLCs, robotic systems, sensors, and automation equipment, while ensuring secure, reliable data collection, visualization, and analytics to support continuous improvement, OEE monitoring, and predictive maintenance. In addition to establishing software development standards, best practices, and documentation for scalable deployment across facilities, the role requires partnering with cross-functional teams in Production, Quality, IT, and Engineering. The manager also provides leadership in AI/ML, IoT, digital twins, and cloud integration (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) for future smart factory initiatives, while handling budgets, project timelines, and vendor relationships related to software and automation projects.
Qualifications Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, with a Master's degree preferred. The role requires at least 7 years of professional software engineering experience, including 3 or more years in a leadership or management capacity, alongside a strong background in factory automation, robotics, or manufacturing systems integration. Candidates need hands-on experience with AMR fleet management software and navigation systems, MES/ERP platforms, PLC integration, and industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, Profinet, and Ethernet/IP. Proficiency in programming languages including C#, Python, Java, or C++ is required, as well as experience with SQL/NoSQL database management, API integration, Industry 4.0 technologies, and cybersecurity practices for industrial networks. Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills are essential. Preferred qualifications include a background in electronics or connector manufacturing, direct experience deploying AMRs in a production or warehouse environment, and familiarity with cloud platforms for industrial applications.
Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to work on the production floor for extended periods in a manufacturing environment characterized by noise, vibration, and moving machinery. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and maintain a willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as required to meet production demands.
