You'll get to build the brains behind smarter buildings. As aSoftware Developer III, you'll lead the design and development of the backend services that power our Cloud-based Building Management System. You'll solve complex technical challenges, influence architectural decisions, and drive the delivery of scalable, reliable software that has a real-world impact. Working alongside talented engineers and cross-functional teams, you'll help shape the technical direction of our platform while mentoring others and raising the engineering bar.

What you will do:

  • Design, develop, and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems and microservices.
  • Lead the technical design and implementation of complex features and platform capabilities.
  • Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Drive architectural decisions across APIs, cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and microservices.
  • Evaluate technical trade-offs to balance scalability, reliability, and delivery timelines.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality end-to-end solutions.
  • Lead design reviews, perform code reviews, and champion engineering best practices.
  • Mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
  • Own technical delivery, coordinating implementation across multiple workstreams.
  • Improve system performance, reliability, observability, automation, and developer tooling.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, architecture standards, and continuous process improvement.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field.
  • 5+ yearsof professional software development experience.
  • Strong expertise in object-oriented programming, software architecture, and design patterns.
  • Proven experience designing and building distributed systems using microservices and AWS managed services (Lambda, SQS, API Gateway, EventBridge, etc.).
  • Advanced proficiency in Python.
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
  • Strong proficiency with Git and modern software development workflows.
  • Deep understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing strategies, CI/CD, code quality, observability, and maintainability.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and product teams.
  • A passion for solving complex technical problems, mentoring engineers, and continuously improving systems and engineering practices.

Language Requirements

French-English bilingualism is required.

In addition to fluency in French, successful candidates must have full professional proficiency in English in order to support and collaborate with English-speaking clients, colleagues and/or various stakeholders.
