Job Duties

The Manager of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing policies and programs that promote a safe and compliant workplace in alignment with financial and operational goals. This role will work within the finance department to ensure that environmental health, safety, and regulatory compliance efforts are met across all locations. The EHS Manager will collaborate closely with  store and distribution center operations to assess risk and develop strategies to mitigate potential hazards while optimizing resources. Additionally, this role will monitor industry standards and maintain accurate documentation for reporting and auditing purposes.

  • Conduct periodic inspections in all functional areas and recommend corrective/preventative actions for risk and hazard reduction.
  • Develop and present improvement opportunities to management and drives activities to implement change.
  • Establish incident investigation protocols to determine root causes and identify corrective actions.
  • Works with corporate training department to develop/update environmental, health, and safety training as required by company policy and applicable regulation.
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the Company’s operations.
  • Manages hazardous waste management activities for stores and distribution center; maintains relationships with qualified vendors for proper disposal.
  • Manages and provides guidance to stores and distribution center on pest control protocols; maintains relationship with pest control vendor to ensure adherence to established service guidelines.
  • Oversees and guides the emergency response team at the corporate office and distribution center.
  • Tracks annual store safety incentive results, and publishes monthly safety injury and incident rates for store leadership.
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders at the local and corporate level, to promote and implement the company’s safety program.
  • Execute, support, and advise management regarding any environmental policies and safety procedures, violation problems, or new regulations affecting the Company.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to plan and prioritize own work, completes work on schedule and maintain required records.
  • Assist Claims Analyst and/or Loss Prevention with incident, injury investigations.
  • Engage external partners (legal, industrial hygiene, etc.) as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial safety, industrial hygiene or related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience. Retail and/or distribution center safety experience is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Federal OSHA, and State occupational safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations.
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and hazard analysis techniques to identify and mitigate potential safety issues.
  • Awareness of sustainability practices and emerging trends in environmental management.
  • Understanding of financial and budgetary processes to align EHS initiatives with organizational goals.
