What is the opportunity?

Lead RBC's mission-critical datacenter network and security operations, directly supporting 100,000+ users across essential financial services platforms globally. In this strategic leadership role, you'll drive operational excellence and modernization by overseeing 24/7 infrastructure management, leading major incident response during high-stakes events, and championing Site Reliability Engineering transformation and automation initiatives. You'll build and mentor high-performing technical teams while balancing immediate operational stability with long-term technology innovation to reduce manual work and accelerate response times.

What will you do?

  • Lead day-to-day operations of datacenter network and security infrastructure across enterprise and colocation sites globally, ensuring high availability and adherence to service level agreements
  • Champion technology modernization and automation initiatives by driving adoption of Site Reliability Engineering practices, infrastructure automation platforms, orchestration tools, and AI-assisted operations to transform from reactive to proactive operations
  • Develop and execute multi-year operational strategies aligned with modernization priorities, automation adoption, and emerging technologies including AI-assisted operations and predictive analytics
  • Direct critical incident management, including root cause analysis, stakeholder escalation, and communication for infrastructure events affecting trading, payments, and core banking services
  • Manage three senior managers across SD-WAN networking, security operations, and application delivery/VPN, providing coaching, performance development, and succession planning to build team capability
  • Establish operational standards, change governance, and risk mitigation procedures; drive continuous improvement through chronic issue resolution and automation of alerting and monitoring
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, cloud operations, business technology, and security teams to ensure smooth integration of new platforms, migrations, and technology updates

What do you need to succeed?

  • 10+ years of enterprise network and security operations experience, with 5+ years leading technical teams
  • Proven track record driving technology modernization and automation initiatives, including experience with infrastructure automation, orchestration platforms, or emerging operational technologies such as AI-assisted operations and predictive analytics
  • Deep technical expertise in enterprise routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, VRRP), firewalls (Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Fortinet), load balancers (F5), or remote access and VPN technologies
  • Strong Site Reliability Engineering foundation and mindset-understanding runbooks, automation, observability, and metrics-driven operations as core operational principles
  • Proven experience managing 15+ person technical operations teams with accountability for service level agreements, metrics, and business deliverables
  • Strong incident management background: leading major incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and communicating effectively during high-pressure situations with ability to balance immediate operational needs and long-term transformation goals
