Job description

Turn90 Careers Director of Business Development

Location: Charleston, Columbia & Spartanburg (statewide role, regular in-state travel)
Reports To: Amy Barch, Founder & Executive Director

Type: Full-time, exempt

Turn90 is a nonprofit organization working to help men succeed in life and work after prison.

We combine cognitive behavioral therapy, workforce readiness, job placement, and long-term support with mission-driven businesses, including a commercial screen printing shop, that employ the men we serve in real, permanent jobs and build earned revenue for the organization. Turn90 operates centers in Charleston, Columbia, and Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The atmosphere is laid back and casual, but there is an expectation of high performance. We take continuous improvement seriously and we embrace change. Things don’t stay the same around here for long.

Position Overview

The Director of Business Development owns Turn90’s external employer and corporate relationships across South Carolina. This is a leadership role, not an individual sales seat. This position builds strong relationships with South Carolina employers and informs the work so that those relationships produce several returns at once: employer partners that hire the men Turn90 places, growing revenue for the Turn90 Print Shop, and a widening base of mission-aligned corporate partners.

A single company can be all three things: an employer that hires a Turn90 graduate, a customer that buys our printing, and, over time, a corporate supporter. The purpose of this role is to develop and steward that network. The Director sets strategy in partnership with the Executive Director and leads and manages the Print Shop sales team.

Core Responsibilities Employer Partner and Job Placement Development
  • Build and own relationships with employers across South Carolina who hire the men Turn90 serves, ensuring a dependable pipeline of hiring partners so that program graduates have strong places to land.
  • Develop a statewide second-chance employer coalition that strengthens Turn90’s reach, credibility, and long-term partnerships.
  • Partner closely with the Programs team to align employer needs with graduate readiness and to make placement a reliable, repeatable outcome.
Print Shop Revenue Growth
  • Own the Turn90 Print Shop sales strategy and its annual revenue target.
  • Grow both new accounts and repeat business, and ensure an accurate pipeline, forecast, and reporting cadence in HubSpot.
Team Leadership and Accountability
  • Direct the sales function: set goals and quotas, run a regular accountability cadence, and build repeatable processes.
  • Lead, coach, and manage the Print Shop sales team.
  • Develop the team’s skills in prospecting and relationship management
Corporate Partnership and Giving Development
  • In partnership with the Development team, cultivate employer relationships toward corporate giving and sponsorship over time, serving as the bridge between earned-revenue relationships and philanthropic opportunities.
  • Represent Turn90 in the South Carolina business community at events and through direct outreach.
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Coordinate with Programs on job placement, with Development on corporate giving, and with the Print Shop production and operations to ensure smooth onboarding and fulfillment of new business.
What You’ll Be Supported On
  • Strategic direction and priorities from the Executive Director.
  • Fulfillment and quality handled by the print shop production team, so you can focus on selling and relationships.
  • Donor and grant relationships owned by the Development team, with you feeding warm corporate leads into their pipeline.
  • Participant readiness and program delivery owned by the Programs team.
What Makes You a Strong Fit
  • You are a relationship-driven business development professional who is energized by being out in the market, not behind a desk.
  • You can lead a team and hold people accountable, not just perform the work yourself. You raise the people around you.
  • You are a self-starter who sees a gap and moves, leading with solutions.
  • You are mission-driven and believe in second chances and business for good.
  • You are entrenched in the South Carolina business community and know how to open doors and build trust.
Must-Have Skills and Experience
  • Experience in sales, developing partnerships, with a track record of generating leads and closing new business.
  • Experience leading, managing, or building a sales or business development team.
  • Proven relationship builder who turns one-time customers into long-term partners.
  • Comfort with CRM tools for pipeline and forecasting (HubSpot preferred).
  • Proactive to learn, develop and improve.
  • Valid South Carolina driver’s license and ability to travel statewide.
Nice to Have
  • Existing relationships with South Carolina employers and corporate leaders.
Compensation and Benefits

Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, plus a performance incentive tied to Print Shop revenue growth. Turn90 offers a benefits package including paid time off and retirement contributions.
