Job description

Regis Jesuit is seeking a Learning Specialist to to serve in an interim capacity during a long-term medical leave. This position will be placed on the Faculty Salary Scale, based on education level and years of experience (scale ranges from BA, Tier 1: $55,215 to MA+45, Tier 30: $107,095.To learn more about working for Regis Jesuit, please click HERE.
Under the direction of the Director of Learning Services, the Learning Specialist provides focused educational support to eligible high school students with learning disabilities, including instruction and coaching, as well as technical assistance to their teachers and parents.
Essential Job Functions
  • Responsible for managing a caseload of students who are a part of the Learning Services program
  • Work with the Director of Learning Services to assess and support the needs of students with diagnosed learning disabilities
  • Offer instruction related to organization, time management, study skills, and test prep
  • Regularly monitor student grades; initiate relevant support strategies
  • Serve as an advocate for students with regards to classroom accommodations and other needed interventions
  • Respond to and initiate communication with families to support student needs, share resources, and strategies
  • Maintain strong relationships and communicate effectively with parents
  • Maintain electronic and other files according to Regis Jesuit guidelines
  • Work in partnership with teachers, counselors, and administration to support the needs of Learning Services students
  • Assist with Testing coordination and facilitation in Learning Services department
  • Assist with providing extended time accommodations for current and incoming Learning Services students on classroom and standardized tests (entrance exam, placement tests, PSAT, ACT, SAT, AP exams) on school days and on weekend days as needed

Requirements (Education, Experience, Required/Preferred Skills)
  • Bachelor's degree (Special Education background preferred)
  • High school teaching experience preferred
  • Training and/or expertise in learning disabilities and adolescent development
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, faculty members, counseling, administration, and off-campus professionals
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to furthering the Catholic, Jesuit mission and identity of Regis Jesuit
