For over 180 years, Chetola Resort has offered guests a timeless mountain escape in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Serving as the gateway to beautiful Blowing Rock, North Carolina as a luxury haven where adventure meets tranquility, Chetola blends refined hospitality with immersive outdoor experiences-from Orvis®-endorsed fly fishing to award-winning dining, spa indulgence, and family-friendly recreation. Under new ownership, we are embracing an exciting new chapter rooted in thoughtful renewal, authentic elegance, and exceptional guest service. Blowing Rock boasts many of the most luxurious residences in all of the Carolinas, with an affluent clientele in a year-round destination.
THE ROLE
Chetola Resort is seeking a driven and strategic Group Sales Manager to help continue the resort's legacy of exceptional experiences and service for group clientele. The Group Sales Manager will be responsible for securing and growing group business across market segments, supporting sales strategies, and helping shape the future of events and group offerings at the resort.
This role blends strong sales performance with elevated, Forbes-level hospitality standards, ensuring every interaction is warm, personalized, and executed with precision. Success in this role means not only achieving revenue goals, but delivering a seamless, high-touch experience that reflects Chetola's commitment to excellence at every stage of the client journey.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Sales Strategy & Execution
  • Proactively solicit group business across multiple market segments with professionalism and confidence
  • Maintain and grow client relationships through consistent, thoughtful, and personalized engagement
  • Follow up on sales leads with urgency and attention to detail, converting inquiries into confirmed bookings
  • Conduct market research and analyze trends to inform strategies and maximize bookings
  • Track and achieve monthly and annual booking goals in partnership with the Director of Sales

Client Engagement & Collaboration
  • Represent the resort with a warm, sincere, and polished presence in every interaction-whether in person, over the phone, or in writing
  • Anticipate client needs before they are expressed and tailor recommendations to create a personalized experience
  • Conduct site tours that reflect a high standard of readiness, professionalism, and pride in the property
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with clients and internal teams to ensure a seamless, stress-free experience
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Front Office, F&B, Spa, and Marketing teams to deliver cohesive and elevated group experiences
  • Maintain composure and grace under pressure, ensuring exceptional service even in fast-paced or high-demand situations

Operations & Administration
  • Utilize property management and sales systems to manage leads, bookings, and client details with accuracy and organization
  • Prepare detailed and polished proposals, contracts, and banquet event orders (BEOs) that reflect professionalism and clarity
  • Ensure all event details are communicated precisely across departments to support flawless execution
  • Provide reporting on account activity and key performance metrics
  • Support the development of sales materials and promotional tools that align with the resort's brand and standards
  • Uphold all resort policies, procedures, and service expectations with consistency and accountability

Requirements
ATTENTION TO DETAIL IN ACTION
At Chetola, exceptional experiences are built on the details others might miss. In the Group Sales Manager role, you will:
  • Deliver a warm and sincere first impression in every client interaction, setting the tone for the entire experience
  • Anticipate needs and proactively address potential gaps before they impact the client or guest experience
  • Maintain precise, organized, and timely documentation with zero errors or missed details
  • Ensure seamless handoffs across departments so the client experience feels effortless and cohesive
  • Review contracts, BEOs, and billing thoroughly to ensure complete accuracy and clarity
  • Present all communications-emails, proposals, and materials-with polish, professionalism, and brand consistency
  • Observe the property with a critical eye during site tours, ensuring all spaces reflect excellence and readiness
  • Follow through on every commitment, reinforcing trust and delivering a consistently elevated experience

ABOUT YOU
  • A proactive and polished communicator with a passion for hospitality and relationship-building
  • Naturally delivers a warm, engaging, and professional presence in all interactions
  • Thrives in target-driven environments and takes pride in closing business while maintaining exceptional service standards
  • Equally comfortable making strategic decisions and managing fine details with precision
  • Demonstrates strong emotional intelligence, discretion, and professionalism with clients and colleagues
  • Maintains composure and adaptability, delivering results with grace under pressure
  • Enjoys working collaboratively across teams to create seamless, memorable guest experiences

REQUIREMENTS
  • Previous experience in a hotel or resort setting is required
  • Prior experience in sales is strongly preferred
  • Experience in a luxury or upscale hospitality environment preferred
  • Familiarity with sales systems and property management software is a plus
  • Must be able to work on-site with a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends

WHY CHETOLA
  • One of the largest private employers in the county with a dynamic work setting and strong potential for career growth
  • Join a dedicated and growing team shaping the next era of a beloved mountain resort
  • Contribute meaningfully to a culture rooted in connection, craftsmanship, and care
  • Competitive salary and eligible to participate in property-wide sales incentive programs
  • Comprehensive benefits offered to full-time eligible employees, including health, dental, vision, and supplemental benefits as well as PTO, and on-property perks
