The Job

Your role will be responsible for the line management, development and day- to-day leadership of the UK Events Team, alongside direct responsibility for the planning and delivery of key events. This is a โ€œdoerโ€“leaderโ€ role, reflecting the current size and maturity of the team. You will be expected to lead from the front, remaining actively involved in the delivery of events while taking accountability for team performance, coordination and output. The team is responsible for the planning and implementation of internal and external events within the Medical Sector, including activity at our Medical Education Centre, national congresses, company events and mobile labs. You will directly manage the events team and ensure all activity is delivered in line with the agreed business strategy. The role reports to the Business Operations Manager and forms part of the wider operational leadership structure aligned to SLT objectives. You will work closely with the Business Operations Manager to align priorities, manage resource planning and support the continued development of the function. As the team continues to grow, this role is expected to evolve, with increasing focus on strategic planning, budget ownership, process improvement and leadership, while maintaining appropriate oversight of delivery standards.

Duties and Responsibilities Events Management
  • Accountable for the successful planning and delivery of all UK event activity, both directly and through the events team
  • Lead, prioritise and coordinate team workloads to ensure effective delivery across multiple concurrent events
  • Maintain personal responsibility for delivery of key events, acting as lead coordinator where required
  • Work closely with the Business Operations Manager to align event delivery with business priorities and evolving organisational needs
  • Focus will be on the coordination, delivery and follow up on a variety of UK event activities, including course planning, event administration, travel co-ordination and other events team responsibilities as deemed relevant by the business requirements.
Stakeholder & Cross-functional Working
  • Maintain regular alignment with Lab and Office Management teams on scheduling, bookings and operational delivery
  • Collaborate with Marketing to continuously improve event communications and materials
  • Oversee training of new starters on systems and processes
  • Close coordination with compliance to support internal and external partners within permitted operational parameters and industry regulations
Leadership & Team Management
  • Direct line management of Events Co-Ordinatorโ€™s and Events Assistants, including objective setting, performance management and development
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and support to ensure high standards of delivery and team engagement
  • Plan and allocate resources effectively across the team based on event demand and priorities
  • Lead regular team meetings and ensure clear communication of priorities and expectations
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and training of new team members as the function grows
  • Act as the primary escalation point for team queries and issue resolution
Delivery & Operational Oversight
  • In addition to leadership responsibilities, the role will retain handsโ€‘on involvement in event delivery, taking full ownership of endโ€‘toโ€‘end delivery of selected events, particularly complex or highโ€‘profile activity, as required
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the UK events programme, improving delivery, efficiency and attendee experience
  • Work with the Business Operations Manager on forward planning, including capacity planning and scalable delivery models
  • Support the evolution of the function towards a more strategic, insightโ€‘led and scalable operating model as activity grows
General Requirements
  • Good handling of MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work on multiple events simultaneously and within deadlines.
  • Self-sufficient, well organised, and reliable working methods.
  • Excellent communicative skills, motivation, and team spirit.
  • Talent for administration and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Bachelors degree or similar within preferred areas such as marketing, event management or similar.
Specific Requirements
  • Knowledge of current compliance requirements is an advantage
  • Experience in working with event software / booking programs is an advantage
  • Co-ordinating closely with the Product Management and Marketing teams to understand marketing objective and activities and contribute to the development of this and onsite delivery
  • Prepare budgets, ensure adherence as required
  • Approve all aspects before the day of the event
  • Ensure event is completed smoothly and step up to resolve any problems that might occur
  • Excellent administration and attention to detail
  • Accuracy with deadlines to project timelines to ensure information is shared with respective departments on time.
  • To work alongside onsite hospitality to deliver seamless front of house experience
  • To ensure effective communication is carried out with clients and customers on an ongoing basis.
Travel Activity

10% national only also international as required

Working arrangements

Full-time Monday to Friday, flexible hours between 8am and 6pm with occasional evenings, average of 40 hours per week.

Compensation and benefits
