The Work You Will Do:

Information Technology Services Manager - District Five / Office of Information Technology

This position supervises staff, focusing on communication, motivation, training, evaluation, and workload planning, while having authority to make recommendations on hiring, promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions, and other personnel matters. The role oversees IT operations, including computer networks, software, telecommunications, and security systems, coordinating installations, modifications, and access provisioning. Responsibilities include budgeting, monitoring expenditures, managing projects, and maintaining records for security and compliance. The position supports emergency and disaster recovery plans, ensures timely resolution of service requests, maintains high customer service standards, and participates in statewide IT teams to share information, provide guidance, and advise users on changes to IT standards.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Supervises employees spending the majority of the time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees' work. Has the authority to effectively recommend the hiring, transferring, suspension, lay off, recall's, promotions, discharges, assignments, rewards, or disciplinary actions for subordinate employees. Plans and directs workloads, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with subordinate staff. Provides direction and ensures that all subordinates receive training and instruction in methods and techniques necessary to safely perform their assigned tasks.

Oversees the support of computer networks, personal computers, associated equipment, software applications and phone communication systems (if applicable) in program area. Analyzes, approves and coordinates all activities involving the installation and modification of new and existing computer systems, including the moving of computer and phone equipment. Supports telecommunications ensuring that systems and services function properly for designated areas.

Prepares budget and monitors IT expenditures for designated areas. This includes preparation of budget issues, overseeing purchasing activities, monitoring funds and payments as necessary. Plans, organizes, manages and tracks projects. Updates and maintains the Office of Information Technology (OIT) Project and Task Tracker Site.

Oversee the provisioning of appropriate access to system resources, specialized security and applications for users as authorized. Maintains proper security related file records and documentation to preserve information such as computer security access records, following established security processes and Office of Information Technology Methods and Practices.

Supports emergency and disaster recovery plans for program area. This position may be in possession of an Emergency Purchasing Card and is authorized to make purchases during emergencies.

Monitors and ensures compliance with service level agreement. Works closely with appropriate management to maintain and improve communication and customer service. Ensure staff addresses Service Desk tickets in a timely manner to provide a high level of customer service.

Participates on statewide teams, both internal and external to the Office of Information Technology. Provide facts to facilitate the team's decision-making process and to achieve the team's goals. Shares information and receives feedback from other Office of Information Technology staff as appropriate.

Reviews all requests for Information Technology resources in program area. Advises user community of changes to Departmental standards for Information Technology.
