Position Overview

Are you a visionary architectural leader ready to drive studio growth and shape the built environment across the Southeast? We are seeking a Director of Architecture to spearhead our practice in Atlanta. In this pivotal executive position, you will not simply manage projects—you will architect the future of our practice, guiding high-performing multidisciplinary teams and delivering signature design solutions across healthcare, senior living, hospitality, and mixed-use sectors.

Joining our team means stepping into a collaborative studio environment backed by modern operational flexibility, including a structured 1-day remote work schedule. You will serve as a primary steward of client relationships, design excellence, and operational profitability. Supported by a growth-oriented culture, this role offers an unprecedented platform to mentor the next generation of architectural talent, build a lasting legacy, and drive long-term strategic initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

  • Strategic & Practice Leadership: Steer the division's operational and strategic growth initiatives, working in tandem with executive leadership to expand the firm's footprint in key target markets.

  • Team Mentorship & Talent Development: Recruit, develop, and inspire a high-performing team of architects, project managers, and designers, cultivating a culture of innovation, mentorship, and professional growth.

  • Design & Operational Excellence: Oversee all project phases—from initial conceptual design through complex documentation and construction administration—ensuring uncompromising quality and adherence to schedules.

  • Financial & Resource Stewardship: Drive overall project profitability, managing staffing, resource allocation, fee proposals, and operational metrics across the architectural practice.

  • Client & Business Development: Cultivate and deepen long-term strategic relationships with key clients, prospective owners, consultants, and contractors to secure marquee project wins.

  • Regulatory & Quality Authority: Ensure complete compliance with building codes, ADA standards, life safety requirements, and rigorous internal quality assurance protocols.

  • Digital Transformation & Sustainability: Advance design workflows through modern BIM/Revit practices and champion sustainable design methodologies (LEED) across the studio portfolio.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program.

  • Licensure: Registered Architect (RA) required.

  • Experience: 15+ years of progressive architectural design and practice leadership experience, with a proven track record of managing complex, multidisciplinary teams.

  • Sector Expertise: Demonstrated portfolio successfully delivering major healthcare, senior living, hospitality, or commercial/mixed-use projects.

  • Software Proficiency: Strong command of Revit, BIM workflows, and project financial management platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NCARB Certification: Active NCARB certificate to facilitate multi-state licensure expansion.

  • Sustainability Leadership: LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) or equivalent credentials.

  • Regional Market Insight: Deep familiarity with Georgia building codes, regional agency processes, and Southeast market conditions.

  • Multi-Office Experience: Demonstrated success in leading multi-office or cross-functional multidisciplinary teams.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $150,000 – $170,000 per year

  • Performance Bonus: Discretionary annual executive bonus eligibility

  • Comprehensive Health: Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage

  • Retirement: 401(k) with competitive employer matching

  • Time Off: Generous paid time off (PTO) and paid company holidays

  • Workplace Flexibility: Hybrid work structure (up to 1 day remote weekly)

  • Professional Support: Full financial support for professional licensing, dues, and continuing education
