Job description

CITITRENDS is seeking a Senior Manager of Accounting to be responsible for providing leadership to accounting staff and partners with outside advisors (tax and equity, for example) and cross-functionally with other areas of the organization. Responsibilities include a variety of accounting duties as outlined below. This role will also provide technical expertise on complex accounting issues, as well as develop and oversee strategies to enhance processes through new technologies and rethinking how we do things. The Senior Manager of Accounting will report to the Assistant Controller and work closely with the Finance & Accounting leadership team. The Senior Manager of Accounting will play a critical role in building a positive work culture, driving employee involvement, and supporting change management efforts within the retail organization.
About the Role
The Senior Manager of Accounting is responsible for providing leadership to accounting staff and partners with outside advisors (tax and equity, for example) and cross-functionally with other areas of the organization.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare, review and ensure timely and accurate financial statements and supporting schedules, documentation and reconciliations for monthly/quarterly/annual close
  • Ensure compliance with external reporting standards (GAAP) and internal policies and procedures, including documentation and review of SOX controls
  • Assist with the preparation of SEC filings, including 10Qs, 10Ks, 8Ks and the Proxy.
  • Provide strategic leadership to enhance accounting processes and files through implementing new technologies and rethinking how we do things
  • Oversee the company's equity award program, including the issuance and recordkeeping of all equity awards
  • Prepare Form 4s for reporting equity transactions by Section 16 filers
  • Partner with external tax firm to ensure accurate, timely filing of consolidated federal and state and local income tax returns and other business-related filings
  • Ensure all non-income tax obligations and other filings are met in a timely and accurate manner; including sales tax, use tax, personal property tax and business licenses
  • Maintain effective internal control procedures over all aspects of the tax process
  • Assist Legal and HR with insurance coverage, renewals and contracts
  • Review and advise on actuarial inputs
  • Follow up and ensure timely claims and dispute resolutions are handled
  • Support VP of Finance in managing investments and daily banking activities
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications
  • Four-year accounting degree and active CPA license required
  • 6+ years' experience in a comparable management position

Required Skills
  • Strong understanding and experience of accounting under U.S. GAAP
  • Experience with income taxes and indirect taxes, including sales/use and property taxes
  • Aptitude for technology implementations to modernize processes and drive efficiency
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Effectively coaches and develops staff, mentors through feedback and clear expectations
  • Works with team to determine high priority objectives, deadlines, etc. and broadly shares responsibility and accountability
