Job description

Senior Network Engineer Opportunity Summary:
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and support of secure enterprise network infrastructure across routers, switches, firewalls, wireless, and hybrid connectivity environments. This role is intended for a hands-on senior engineer with deep networking expertise and a strong cybersecurity focus, with emphasis on engineering secure, resilient, and compliant network solutions rather than routine administration alone.
The ideal candidate will bring advanced experience with Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco Meraki technologies, routing and switching, VPNs, segmentation, and network security controls, along with the ability to align network architecture with cybersecurity and compliance requirements.
Job Duties:
Network Architecture and Engineering
  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, SD-WAN, VPN, and perimeter network solutions.
  • Engineer secure network topologies using routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless platforms across corporate, branch, and hybrid environments.
  • Lead network modernization initiatives, including segmentation, resiliency, high availability, and performance optimization.
  • Develop and maintain network standards, diagrams, implementation plans, and support documentation.

Cybersecurity-Focused Network Engineering
  • Engineer and enforce secure network controls including ACLs, VPNs, firewall policies, segmentation, secure remote access, and authentication controls.
  • Harden network infrastructure and partner with security teams on vulnerability remediation, risk reduction, and control improvements.
  • Support Zero Trust, attack surface reduction, and network security initiatives aligned to broader cyber strategy.
  • Analyze and remediate security gaps affecting network devices, connectivity, and edge security platforms.

Palo Alto and Meraki Administration/Engineering
  • Design, deploy, and manage Palo Alto firewalls, security policies, NAT, VPNs, threat prevention features, and related security services.
  • Configure and support Cisco Meraki switches, wireless, routing, and site-to-site connectivity solutions.
  • Standardize firewall and network security configurations to improve reliability, visibility, and control effectiveness.
  • Troubleshoot complex connectivity and security issues across Palo Alto, Meraki, and adjacent infrastructure platforms.

Routing, Switching and Core Infrastructure
  • Configure and support dynamic routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and related Layer 2/Layer 3 services.
  • Manage switching, VLANs, wireless SSIDs, RADIUS-based authentication, subnetting, GRE, and secure inter-site connectivity.
  • Support integration with core infrastructure services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, PKI, and virtualization platforms where applicable.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting across network, firewall, system, and application layers.

Compliance, Audit and Governance
  • Ensure network engineering practices align with internal security standards and external compliance requirements.
  • Support audits, risk assessments, evidence gathering, remediation tracking, and control validation activities.
  • Contribute to initiatives aligned with frameworks and regulatory standards such as NIST, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOX, and ISO 27001 as applicable to the environment.
  • Maintain documentation and operational practices that support secure, auditable, and compliant network operations.

Collaboration and Leadership
  • Act as a senior technical resource for infrastructure, security, cloud, and support teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on network and security best practices.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for escalated incidents and drive root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Communicate technical risks, recommendations, and architecture decisions clearly to stakeholders.

Work Experience and Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, network security engineering, or infrastructure engineering roles.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with enterprise routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networking.
  • Strong experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco Meraki technologies.
  • Strong understanding of LAN/WAN design, IP subnetting, routing protocols, segmentation, and secure network access.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity initiatives within the network domain, including hardening, vulnerability remediation, and policy enforcement.
  • Experience supporting regulated or compliance-driven environments.
  • Ability to create clear technical documentation, standards, and implementation artifacts.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Entra, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft 365.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Zero Trust architecture, IDS/IPS, NAC, cloud networking, and secure hybrid connectivity.
  • Familiarity with Azure networking, ExpressRoute, network virtual appliances, and cloud firewall services.
  • Experience with compliance and governance frameworks such as NIST, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, SOX, or ISO 27001.
  • Relevant certifications such as PCNSE, CCNP, CCIE, Security+, or equivalent network/security certifications.
  • Experience with scripting, automation, monitoring, and configuration standardization for network environments.

Employee Rewards and Benefits:
  • 8 Paid Holidays & 1 Paid Wellness Day
  • Paid Time Off
  • Employee Referral Bonus Program
  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • 401k with a Company Match
