Responsibilities
The Network Automation Engineer will help modernize and automate Berkley Technology Services' global network infrastructure by building scalable, secure, and repeatable automation frameworks. This role partners closely with network architecture, security, and cloud engineering teams to streamline operations, reduce manual effort, and accelerate the transition to a software-defined, cloud-first network environment.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable network automation frameworks leveraging Python, Ansible, Terraform, and REST APIs to drive consistency and efficiency.
• Automate end-to-end network lifecycle operations, including provisioning, configuration management, and policy enforcement across on-premises, SD-WAN, and cloud environments.
• Partner with network and security architecture teams to implement Infrastructure as Code and advance NetDevOps practices across the organization.
• Engineer and integrate automation workflows across key platforms such as Cisco ISE, Cisco DNA Center, Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN, and Zscaler.
• Build and operationalize CI/CD pipelines to enable automated testing, validation, and deployment of network configurations and changes.
• Develop and maintain reusable, source-controlled templates and playbooks to standardize deployments and reduce manual intervention.
• Enhance network observability and telemetry by automating data collection, analytics, and reporting to support proactive operations and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and resilient network architectures aligned with Zero Trust and cloud-first strategies.
• Establish and enforce automation standards, documentation, and best practices to ensure maintainability, governance, and auditability.
• Incorporate AI-assisted development and intelligent automation to improve workflows, accelerate development, and reduce operational overhead.
• Participate in an on-call rotation, supporting production network operations and automation platforms as required.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• 3 to 5 or more years of experience in enterprise network engineering, supporting global or multi-site environments.
• 2 or more years of hands-on experience in network automation and scripting, with a focus on operational use cases.
• Strong foundational networking expertise, including routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, NAC, and WAN technologies.
• Proficiency in Python and Ansible, with working knowledge of Terraform and RESTful APIs for network automation.
• Experience with version control and modern development practices, including Git and CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure or network changes.
• Familiarity with cloud networking in AWS, Azure, or GCP, including hybrid connectivity patterns.
• Working knowledge of NetDevOps principles, event-driven automation, and/or network testing frameworks.
• Experience with enterprise networking platforms such as Cisco routing and switching, Cisco ISE, Cisco DNA Center, Palo Alto, Zscaler, NetScaler, or similar.
• Exposure to containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes and their networking implications is a plus.
• Broad thinking, creative thinking, and development-oriented mindset.
Education Requirement
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or a combination of equivalent education and work experience.
• Certifications preferred include Cisco DevNet, CCNP or CCIE, PCNSE, CISSP, and AWS or Azure Networking.
