Job description

Welcome to The Freelance Firm!

We are a national network of experienced, high-level, freelance attorneys and paralegals who provide remote, on-demand support for both short-term and long-term legal projects for our client law firms.

Due to increased demand, we are now interviewing for a qualified, experienced, and dedicated Oklahoma Family Law Paralegal to provide ongoing support to a busy, growing family law practice.

This client has a substantial existing caseload and is looking for a paralegal who can become a dependable extension of their current team. The opportunity may begin with a more limited workload while the working relationship is established, with the potential to grow to up to 40 hours per week. There may ultimately be a need for multiple paralegals as the firm continues to grow.

Paralegal Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-level drafting support for active family law matters
  • Draft initial disclosures, discovery requests and responses, petitions, responses, protective orders, motions, and other family law pleadings
  • Assist with organizing and moving active family law cases forward
  • Communicate directly and professionally with clients regarding case status, outstanding information, documents, and next steps
  • Provide regular updates regarding file progress
  • Assist attorneys with case preparation and other substantive family law support
  • Work collaboratively with the firm's attorneys, paralegals, operations staff, and other team members
  • Take ownership of assigned work and proactively identify issues, next steps, and opportunities to improve case progression
Paralegal Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of substantive paralegal experience, with strong direct family law experience
  • Exceptional drafting ability is a MUST and is the primary requirement for this opportunity
  • Experience independently drafting substantive family law pleadings, discovery, motions, and related documents
  • Very strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, polished, high-quality work product
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable making thoughtful suggestions, identifying potential issues, and bringing ideas to the legal team rather than simply waiting for instructions
  • Ability to work independently while integrating closely with an established legal team
  • Proactive, responsive, and dependable communicator
  • Strong client-management skills with the ability to communicate professionally and empathetically with clients navigating difficult and emotional family law matters
  • Polished and professional demeanor; the firm serves a high-end clientele and places significant importance on the client experience
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Professional, respectful, collaborative, and team-oriented
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and revisions while continuing to develop an understanding of the firm's preferred work product and processes
  • Experience with MyCase is highly preferred
  • Candidates with substantive family law writing samples available are strongly preferred

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong family law paralegal looking for a potentially substantial and long-term workload. The client has immediate work available to delegate and is looking to build a trusted relationship with the right professional.

Our Paralegal pay rate starts at $30/hour.

We welcome you to join our established network of legal professionals!

Please respond with your resume and, if available, family law writing samples, and we will contact you for a 30-minute online meeting in the next two days to answer all of your questions about The Freelance Firm and this opportunity.
