Job Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to empower non-traditional and/or adult learners to make informed decisions regarding personal, professional, enrollment, and academic needs within the context of their academic ambitions, career goals, and rights and responsibilities.

The Program Manager is a key facilitator dedicated to supporting all aspects of Goodwin College's non-traditional and/or adult student developmental experience, including but not limited to:

  • Develop a rapport/professional relationships with student advisees.
  • Support Goodwin leadership and administration in identifying funding sources and streams to support Continuing Professional Educational opportunities for community and prospective students.
  • Stay abreast of current and future trends as it relates to adult education, up-skilling, and degree completion, workforce development, etc.
  • Serve as a mentor/coach to empower students to set appropriate expectations, clarify academic, personal, enrollment, and career goals, take action on plans, and seek assistance when needed.
  • Assist students in developing an appropriate academic plan of study to achieve credit bearing and non-credit bearing degrees and/or certificates, and/or certifications, and professional goals, guided by Goodwin's mission and an understanding of Drexel Student Learning Priorities and/or Goodwin program objectives.
  • Initiate proactive and targeted outreach to support students who may be at-risk.
  • Initiate proactive and targeted outreach to recruit students for Goodwin's large portfolio of offerings for credit bearing and non-credit coursework and opportunities.
  • Provide timely and accurate resources for students to successfully navigate towards program/degree completion and other defined personal, academic, and professional goals.
  • Understand and communicate to students the implications of the program plan and degree progress and in particular the impact of changing academic plans to these goals.
  • Articulate Goodwin degree completion paths to open enrollment, certificate and certification populations.
  • Provide guidance within the triage process between students, faculty and other institutional stakeholders.
  • Help the student make transitions from workforce into higher education.
  • Act as a University resources (serve as an agent of referral to other campus agencies) as necessary.
  • Understand, interpret, and enforce University policies while exploring academic and professional options
  • Keep detailed and accurate notes documenting student interactions and provide appropriate follow-up.
  • Act as a liaison between students and the University in both directions: communicate relevant information from the University to students and critical feedback and issues from students to University decision makers.

The Goodwin Program Manager role fosters the empowerment of Goodwin's non-traditional student populations by assisting in facilitating equitable access to a high-quality, career-focused education informed by Drexel's long tradition of experiential learning, preparing organizations and students of all backgrounds to find success. This position reports to Director Academic Programs and Associate Director CPE and will work closely with Executive Director, Goodwin College.  

Essential Functions

  • Credit Bearing (degree programs): 
    • Advise caseload of undergraduate (IDPS)and graduate (NPM) students about the development of academic and professional options, including available resources.
    • Act as liaison for administrative and faculty services.
    • Perform necessary registration duties including course overrides, transfer credit application, etc.
    • Manage and assess student academic and professional development.
    • Perform degree clearing and commencement activities.
    • Ensure University and accreditation standards by enforcing policy. 
    • Operation of Banner and Hyperion software related to students, curricula, and related matters.
    • Student recruitment via traditional, partnership and career accelerated opportunities. 
  • Non - credit Bearing (Continuing Education): 
    • Advise CPE caseload about the development of academic and professional options, including available resources.
    • Perform necessary registration duties.
    • Support leadership (and team) in recruitment initiatives i.e., external partnerships, CAP, etc.
    • Stay abreast of current and future trends as it relates to adult education, up-skilling, micro credentials, and degree completion, workforce development, etc. 
  • Goodwin Auxiliary Services:
    • Support Military Transition Population.
    • Support Veteran Lounge programming.
    • Support Goodwin's credit recovery initiatives. 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of job-related experience in advising, student life, admissions and/or recruiting, teaching and/or coaching, non-profit work and adult education.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as related to essential duties.
  • Documented project management skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to outstanding concern and service to customers.
  • Knowledge of diverse adult populations and workforce development initiatives. 
  • Strong organizational, time management, data analytics, project management skills required. 
  • Practical experience with curriculum, staff development, budgeting, and contracts. 
  • Foundational understanding of andragogical teaching principles, best practices, trends, and approaches in higher education, particularly for adult students and underserved communities. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Grant writing experience.
  • Demonstratable proficiency with PC's and related software, experience with Banner, Hyperion, Blackboard, and meeting software.
  • Exceptional customer service aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent listening and skills.
  • Must possess subject matter expertise including extensive knowledge of university offerings, services, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other common personal computer applications.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490.00 - $71,230.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
