Job description

Vice President, B2B/Technology Communications
Location: Chicago, IL, Detroit, MI, or remote
As a Vice President supporting B2B and Technology clients, you will serve as a client service leader within the practice, driving organic growth, leading high-stakes client relationships, and expanding the agency's footprint across the tech sector. In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives, shaping macro-level PR, integrated marketing, and corporate reputation strategies that drive client value and business growth.
You will lead cross-functional teams, manage client profitability, and champion innovation, particularly in scaling Generative AI agency workflows, integrated media strategies, and modern campaign architectures. As a Vice President, you will balance client portfolio management and business development with high-impact client counsel and talent development.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary contact for B2B and tech clients, translating complex technical roadmaps into integrated earned, owned, paid and social media strategies that achieve brand objectives.
  • Guide clients through complex industry shifts, reputation management scenarios, market positioning, and high-stakes corporate announcements.
  • Oversee overarching earned, owned, paid, and social media architectures, establishing modern measurement frameworks that directly map communications outcomes to revenue and lead generation.
  • Drive practice revenue growth by identifying and leading net-new business pitches, organic account expansions, and multi-practice upsell opportunities.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, panels, and through thought leadership to elevate the agency's reputation in the B2B tech sector.
  • Own P&L targets across key accounts; ensure profitability, optimal resource allocation, strategic forecasting, and contract negotiations.
  • Champion the strategic integration of Generative AI tools across the practice to optimize client operations, predictive analytics, research, and campaign efficiency.
  • Champion advancement and measurement of client discoverability in AI-generated answers
  • Mentor, coach, and develop junior staff, fostering a culture of high performance, retention, and continuous learning.
Requirements
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in B2B and technology PR/communications, with significant leadership experience within an agency environment.
  • Proven track record of supporting net-new business, expanding existing accounts, and driving agency revenue growth.
  • Demonstrated experience counseling C-suite executives on corporate positioning, executive thought leadership, and high-stakes communications.
  • Strong experience managing account portfolios, agency staffing models, financial forecasting, and account profitability.
  • Deep command of the evolving earned media landscape, modern B2B social ecosystems (e.g., executive visibility, paid social integration), and content marketing funnels.
  • Expertise in leveraging enterprise AI tools (e.g., Gemini, ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude, predictive PR platforms) and modern PR/marketing tech stacks (MuckRack, Meltwater, LinkedIn Campaign Manager) to drive strategic competitive advantages.
  • Strong network of relationships across top-tier business, tech, and trade media, as well as digital creators and industry influencers.
  • An empathetic, decisive, and forward-thinking leader capable of inspiring teams, navigating ambiguity, and driving overall client and new business success.
Salary range is $130,000-$150,000. The salary will be commensurate with the selected candidate's experience.
