Supervisor, Manufacturing & Technical Services

Full Time Management Fort Lauderdale, FL, US

This position oversees product formulation and manufacturing, manages and supports internal staff, ensures the integrity and quality of products, handles process improvements and new product launches, and maintains accurate documentation. This role requires collaboration with contract manufacturers, technical problem-solving, up to 30% travel, and effective team leadership.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Works directly with contract manufacturers to ensure the finished product formulation integrity.
  • Provides direction and guidance to internal staff involved in formulation chemistry, technical services and vendor management.
  • Reviews all proposed manufacturing specifications and ingredient lists for new and/or reformulated products, participates in the execution of bench work mix development, product laboratory testing, determination of proper label claims and execution of final formulas for full scale implementation.
  • Provides support and technical oversight for current products to the Product Development team.
  • Analyzes formulations for compatibility and makes recommendations to optimize product potency and stability.
  • Ensures timely preparation and turnaround of Requests for Quotes (RFQ’s) for new and reformulated products.
  • Reviews supplier’s technical documentation and other key technical information related to active and inactive ingredients.
  • Manages product and process improvements activities and reviews product investigations, deviations, customer complaints and other product trends, oversees manufacturing, testing and other process modifications and implements permanent solutions.
  • Monitors the performance of multiple manufacturing processes and products differing in nature at several sites to recognize adverse trends and implements improvement plans as required.
  • Evaluates potential updates to existing formulations improving product costand evaluates alternative ingredients for compatibility in current product formulations.
  • Oversees new product launches and existing product upgrades, including onsite supervision and troubleshooting of product pilots and production runs at contract manufacturers.
  • Evaluates new raw materials and alternative potential ingredients and formulas for manufacturability; evaluates new and existing raw materials for functionality and stability.
  • Reviews labels, finished product specifications and manufacturing specifications for ingredients, excipients, PIC system version and system accuracy.
  • Presents technical product information and manufacturing timelines to management and other cross‑functional groups including Purchasing, Marketing, Magazine, Scientific Affairs & Product Development to facilitate timely completion of new product launches and status of product reformulations.
  • Reviews and maintains all formula data in product database.
  • Approximately 30% of travel time required.
  • Additional duties as needed
  • 2 onsite days per week is an essential function of this position.
  • Proactively leads, coaches, and develops team members by setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback ensuring a high‑performing and engaged team.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, Nutritional Sciences or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience in dietary supplement manufacturing
  • 5+ years of dietary supplement formulation experience to include a familiarity of ingredients, physical properties, coatings and dispersion, production characteristics and raw material processing
  • Knowledge of manufacturing cGMP’s and regulatory compliance (21 CFR 111)
  • Proven experience providing creative solutions to resolve production issues
  • Basic supervisory skills to manage special projects in a team environment preferred
