Job description

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the shipment of finished goods to customers and distribution locations. The role ensures timely deliveries, shipment visibility, transportation performance, and effective communication between Customer Service, Warehouse Operations, and Carriers. The position plays a critical role in supporting OTIF performance, customer satisfaction, and logistics cost optimization.

 

Key Result Areas:

 

Transportation & Shipment Coordination

·         Coordinate outbound shipments to customers, warehouses, and distribution locations.

·         Schedule transportation with approved carriers and logistics providers.

·         Monitor shipments and proactively resolve transportation issues, delays, and delivery exceptions.

·         Ensure priority orders are expedited when necessary.

Customer Delivery Performance

·         Support achievement of OTIF (On Time In Full) targets.

·         Provide shipment visibility and delivery updates to Customer Service and internal stakeholders.

·         Investigate and resolve transportation-related customer complaints.

Documentation & Compliance

·         Prepare and maintain shipping documentation, export paperwork, and transportation records.

·         Support domestic and international shipping compliance requirements.

·         Ensure accurate shipment data within ERP and transportation systems.

Logistics Performance & Continuous Improvement

·         Monitor transportation performance and identify improvement opportunities.

·         Support freight cost management initiatives and carrier performance reviews.

·         Participate in projects focused on logistics efficiency, shipment visibility, and service improvements.

·         Help implement standard logistics processes and KPIs aligned with the Vesuvius Supply Chain Operating Model.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

·         Work closely with Customer Service, Planning, Warehouse Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure efficient order fulfillment.

·         Coordinate shipment priorities and communicate delivery risks.

·         Support daily execution and exception management activities.

·         Knowledge of inventory management, distribution, and transportation processes.

·         Experience in logistics, transportation, customer service, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.

·         Strong understanding of transportation planning, carrier management, and customer delivery processes.

·         Experience using ERP systems (SAP, JDE, or equivalent) and Microsoft Excel.

·         Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

·         Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

·         Strong communication skills and customer-focused mindset.

·         Experience with export documentation and international shipping processes is a plus.
