About the role
As a Senior QA Automation Engineer - API Automation & Performance Testing, you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable quality engineering solutions that improve application reliability, API quality, and system performance. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and work collaboratively with developers, business analysts, product owners, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions.
In this role, you will:
Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, and automated testing solutions.
Perform API, functional, integration, regression, and performance testing across enterprise applications.
Build and maintain robust API automation frameworks and reusable test assets using industry-leading automation tools.
Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with stakeholders to review requirements, identify risks, and ensure complete test coverage.
Manage defect lifecycle activities, including defect analysis, tracking, reporting, and resolution validation.
Contribute to testing standards, quality engineering best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support application monitoring, performance validation, and production quality assurance activities.
Partner with development and business teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-performing solutions.

What you need to have to be considered
Strong understanding of software testing practices, testing levels, test planning, test script development, and test data creation.
Experience working within SAFe Agile Framework and Agile delivery environments.
Hands-on experience with API testing using Postman, REST Assured, JSON, and REST APIs.
Experience using Azure DevOps for test management, planning, tracking, and delivery activities.
Experience with performance testing using JMeter and/or K6.
Strong working knowledge of Java and JSON.
Hands-on experience building and maintaining API automation frameworks using Ready API, Postman, SOAP UI, REST Assured, Java, and Playwright/Selenium.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
These will help you stand out
Experience using application monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana and Dynatrace.
Experience implementing continuous testing within CI/CD pipelines.
Exposure to enterprise-scale digital transformation programs.
Knowledge of modern test automation architecture and quality engineering best practice.
Experience mentoring QA engineers and promoting automation-first testing strategies.

Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $53,477 to $92,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
