This role blends engineering, artistry, and guest engagement—ideal for a maker who thrives on building, troubleshooting, and bringing models to life through motion, sound, and automation.

You will play a critical role in ensuring all animated elements across the resort operate reliably, safely, and at the highest quality to deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electromechanical models, animatronics, and audio/visual effects across the resort
  • Perform daily pre-opening inspections, ensuring all animation, lighting, motion, and interactive effects are fully operational
  • Conduct ongoing inspections throughout the day, particularly within Miniland attractions
  • Respond promptly to operational calls and resolve technical issues with minimal guest disruption
  • Collaborate with Model Builders and Automation Technicians on repairs, upgrades, and preventative maintenance
  • Fabricate and repair steel structures, armatures, supports, and mounting hardware for LEGO models
  • Operate machine tools including drill presses, saws, grinders, lathes, and mills
  • Maintain and troubleshoot systems involving PLCs, low-voltage motors, pneumatic systems, lighting, and A/V equipment
  • Source and request parts and components for repairs and builds
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces
  • Support additional Technical Services functions across the park and hotel as needed
Technical Focus Areas
  • Animatronics and automated show systems
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), including ladder logic
  • Beckhoff PLC systems and show controllers (preferred)
  • Electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and A/V systems
  • Fabrication and mechanical assembly
  • Preventative maintenance programs
Required Qualifications
  • Experience designing, building, installing, and maintaining electromechanical or automation systems
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across both hardware and software systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Proficiency with power tools and fabrication equipment
  • Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively in urgent situations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow direction while making sound decisions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with animatronics or themed entertainment systems
  • Familiarity with PLC programming and ladder logic
  • Experience with Beckhoff controls or similar systems
  • Background in CAD design, 3D printing, or prototyping
  • Previous experience in a model shop or creative fabrication environment
Work Environment & Schedule
  • Full-time role (approximately 40 hours per week)
  • Schedule varies based on park operations, including weekends and holidays
  • Typically includes two consecutive days off during the week
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with ASTM, NEC, OSHA, NSF, and applicable state and local regulations
  • Identify and report risks, hazards, incidents, or accidents promptly
  • Maintain a safe environment for guests, team members, and attractions at all times
What We’re Looking For

A true “maker” mindset—someone who enjoys building robots, solving complex problems, and blending technical expertise with creativity. This role is perfect for individuals who want to showcase their craftsmanship in a guest-facing environment and contribute to the magic behind the scenes.
